New alignment option
Add a new alignment option to reposition objects so that, from the top (or bottom) object, there is a fixed minimum space between objects. Also, rename the alignment option "Space Out" to "Distribute Evenly" because that what it's really doing.

Inappropriate?Hi Chris, I'm not sure I understand your question. Right now I have two options: distribute centers and space out. The first takes the centers of all the selected objects and spaces them out so that they are equi-distant from each other. The second positions the elements so that there's the same amount of space between them. Is that not what you're asking?

Inappropriate?Whoa, interesting, I've never seen that alignment option anywhere. What other software has it? How would you decide the spacing? Just a fixed 20 pixel amount? What's the use-case?
-
Inappropriate?I've used it in an obscure forms designing tool. The spacing has a default, but that can be changed. The use in question is as illustrated, just wanting to have a consistent minimum spacing between text fields, especially when they are to be labels for text input fields that will be placed next to them.

Inappropriate?Thank you Chris. I hope to solve your problem in a different way: http://gsfn.us/t/77xb

Inappropriate?Sounds good. What is the timeframe for implementing this?
-
not sure, but I'm really itching to do it. I'd say a month or two to be safe. -
Inappropriate?I'd like a similar option, but to me the Illustrator-like 'distribute evenly' and 'space evenly' are enough.
