Suggestions for "Save Mockup as PNG" function
Instead of popping up the modal dialogue when saving a mockup as a PNG, I suggest having a bubble or some sort of temporary notification. Making me click "OK" is annoying. Also, a keyboard shortcut for "save mockup as PNG" would be welcomed as well. Great job, guys!

Inappropriate?Hi Mike, the dialog is there to tell you the full path of where the png was saved. You can dismiss it with ENTER, which is pretty quick (if you cannot, please update, I fixed a bug about it a few weeks ago).
We are thinking about what shortcut to assign to "export as png"...all the good letters are taken! ;) -
Ahh, but this does not work when you are trying to replace the PNG file. Hitting enter simply creates a second PNG file (not what I usually intend). It would be nice to be able to say "always replace this file and don't bother me." I also agree with the original poster that having a modal dialog pop-up is annoying, no matter how easy it is to dismiss it - most of the time I know exactly where the exported file ended up. I like the idea of just having a place to look it up, rather than always disrupting the user's workflow. -
You're right, in the replace case you have to hit TAB+ENTER+ENTER instead of just ENTER. I might add a "always replace from now on" and a "do not show confirmation dialog again" checkboxes on those dialogs, but then I'd have to give you a way to turn off those values...I DO NOT want to add a Preferences dialog if I can at all help it...in other words, I'm seeing your point, but I'm still not swayed... :) -
Hi Giacomo,
Since you are not swayed, I will try to rationalize my need for this feature ;)
The issue I have with the current process is that I have to switch between mouse and keyboard to complete the task. No shortcut means, I have to use the mouse to navigate to the top-left menu and select "Export as PNG...". Then when the dialog(s) pops up, I need go back to the keyboard to quickly finish. I could use the mouse to click on the OK buttons, but this is even more time-consuming.
So, basically, I propose the following process on a per-file, per-session basis:
[First time export case]
1. Keyboard shortcut to "Export as PNG..."
2. Dialog pops up to alert me that save was successful. There is a "Don't show this again" checkbox which I can Tab to and use the Spacebar to check. I can click the OK button or press Enter to complete the process and close the dialog.
[n+1 time export case]
1. Keyboard shortcut to "Export as PNG..."
2. Dialog pops up to ask whether or not I want to overwrite the file or save a new one. there is a "Do this every time" checkbox which I can Tab to, press Spacebar to check it and then hit Enter to complete the process and close the dialog.
3. Depending on whether or not I've checked the "Don't show this again" checkbox for the "saved successfully" dialog, the "saved successfully" dialog may or may not pop up.
This way, I can complete the task entirely from the keyboard and it doesn't require a Preferences settings pane. What do you think? -
Another way to avoid the extra dialog would through an option to always export on save. See: http://getsatisfaction.com/balsamiq/t... -
Inappropriate?Thanks, Giacomo.
About the dialog, I suggest a configuration setting that will allow me to forego the "OK" dialog, but still get some feedback that the file has been saved (something similar to the "Download completed" bubble in Chrome?).
About the shortcut, how about Ctrl-Alt-Shift-S?
I’m enjoying the conversation

I'd love to keep the SHIFT modifier for "all" (i.e. the "Export All Snapshots..." command) just like in Save All or Close All...so perhaps CTRL+ALT+X and CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+X for the all option? I wish we could keep ALT out of it...so maybe CTRL+R and CTRL+SHIFT+R for expoRt? -
I've been missing a shortcut for Export as well and I think Ctrl-R and Ctrl-Shift-R work very nicely. -
Inappropriate?Just my 2 cents, I don't mind the dialog.

Inappropriate?Hi there, we added CTRL+R for export single file and CTRL+SHIFT+R for export all (only in the Desktop version). The dialogs are still there, but you can now do the whole process quickly via the keyboard (using also the TAB and ENTER keys).
