Tag clouds - I think I'm pushing the edge here
I'm attempting to use a tag cloud for a couple of mockups, and hit a few issues. 1) It would be great if I could set the sizes of my tag items (or at least say, "make this one or these two the largest ones"). 2) I can't seem to make a tag cloud containing any phrases - only single words. For my example I need to have a few values that have two or three words - but short of adding periods between them, there is no way to add them. Can you add this functionality (Item 2 is the more critical for me)?

Inappropriate?Hi wmiller, thanks for the request. The Tag Cloud is not used much so it hasn't been getting as much love as other components.
For #1, I need to think about how to do it. What's the use case? Why is it important to specify it at the mockup stage?
For #2, you could try using \_ to join words together, as in this\_is\_a\_long\_tag. Not great, but again, it's just a mockup! :)

Thanks Peldi - I'm sure it's not used that often... pretty Web 2.0 focused I'd imagine. #2 is actually the more useful of the two - but as you noted, there are hacks - I've just been using "." as a separator for now. FWIW, I can use labels and come up with more elegant clouds where I need to for now.
I'm actually using it in a strange way - we aren't a web 2.0 company at all, and in fact don't use tagging - but your addition of tag clouds encouraged me to design a new approach for our upcoming version that made one of SE's giddy when he saw it.
Thanks for the quick response - for now I'll either duct tape labels together (which will give me more font size and layout control) or "." where I need to. -
Inappropriate? So while forced ranking would be cool still, a creative co-worker and I were able to come up with some duct tape for the space issue. On the Mac, if you insert the Unicode non-breaking space character (Option+Space Bar), you can insert a space in a tag and not have it turn into two words.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I have a similar issue in that sometimes I have longer words as tags, which overflow the bounding box when they get randomly assigned a bigger size. What's worse is that the sizes get randomly repainted every time the mockup is switched back to, so I never know if my bounding box will be overflowed or not. I've decided just to stop caring, but it'd be nice to tell some tags not to get too big, as it's just a mockup and I want it to look like I've got things under control. ;)
I’m indifferent

Inappropriate?I'd also like to be able to use multi-word tags. Shouldn't be too hard to implement if you use the comma as a tag separator (like with the breadcrumb).

Have you tried inserting a Unicode space? That worked really well for me and should work well on Windows (charmap.exe) or on the Mac as I noted. -
Inappropriate?I'd als like to add that manually setting the size for individual tags doesn't really fit with the concept of a tag cloud. In a real situation, you wouldn't be able to set tag size manually (unless you're cheating ;-))
