How can I explain the shift in Obama's position on the FISA bill?
I have at least two friends who came around to being Obama supporters because of his opposition to the FISA bill. While I understand there is some long term political smarts to supporting the compromise put forth by his associates in Congress, I'm afraid that my friends will judge him harshly for the evolution from his earlier position. He did, after all, say he'd filibuster an attempt to grant the telecoms immunity.
What should I tell my friends?

Inappropriate?I suppose with Sens. Dodd and Feingold vowing to filibuster the bill we get the same effect without Obama being seen as an obstructionist to the congress he's going to have to negotiate with if he's elected. But neither does he affirm his reformer credentials.
