If I'm starting up a BarCamp in my city, what's the best way to promote it?
Looking for tips from folks who are in cities where the tech population is a little more scattered than it is in, say, San Francisco.

Good question. Best way to is to blog it, list it on Upcoming.org or Facebook (it can be useful to do both, but then you have to maintain both!) and then spread it among your friends via IM, email, or best yet, personal interaction!
You don't need to get a hundred people to have a great event... bigger doesn't necessarily mean better. Better means better, so focus on letting the right folks know about the event and things should be fine!
I’m confident
