What's up with the Bar Camp blog?
Why is the BarCamp blog so out-of-date? The last posts were in 2007! If it is not going to be updated, I think you should retire it as it makes the organization look dead.

Inappropriate? You make a really good point. Since BarCamp is so distributed, it's hard to stay on top of everything that's going on... and since no one has stepped up to be an "editor" of the blog, I suppose it's consequently languished.
There are actually probably about 20 authors on the blog, so it's not that there aren't folks who could be writing -- I think it's just that people are focused on more on local efforts, or tweeting, or on using their own blogs.
I wouldn't be opposed to retiring the blog, but I guess since there is no "organization", I'm not sure how it makes it look "dead"...
I’m undecided

That's probably it...people are busy keeping up with their own blogs. I was just surprised to see it so outdated when this is such an active organization -
Inappropriate?I think its a shame that it has languished.
-
Are you interested in maintaining it? How familiar are you with the BarCamp community? -
Inappropriate?Yes. If it isn't going to be updated at least once a month, you should take it down. Being out-of-date is worse than not being online at all. JMHO.
Think anyone actually ever reads Get Satisfaction? I've never got any official response from any of their clients other than from fellow users. It has never provided me with any satisfaction.
I’m disappointed

I think it's useful for historical purposes; one issue is that since it's hosted on WordPress.com, we can't change the template and say "this blog has been mothballed but is being kept up for historical reasons." If we could (maybe with a final post) would that suffice? -
I wouldn't remove the blog (someone might want to take it back on) but yeah, I would do a final post putting it on hiatus. Perhaps add links to Technorati and Google Blog searches for "BarCamp" where people can find out what's being talked about in the wider blogosphere -
Inappropriate?Personally that just says that we can't be bothered keeping you informed and the whole project has lapsed due to an outbreak of apathy?
I’m disappointed

How would that indicate that the project has collapsed? The first BarCamp was an experiment -- who knew that it would grow into such a worldwide phenomena! I don't think that having a centralized blog has anything to do with how healthy BarCamp as a whole is -- just do a blog search for BarCamp and I think it's clear, things are much better out on the open web than they are in one poorly-maintained blog. If you'd like to hop on and offer your time to edit and curate the blog, I'd love to hear your proposal! -
Inappropriate?I couldn't take on the project since I've just gone to one BarCamp & it wasn't the typical kind (BarCampFinance). It just would be nice if there was a centralized location for a) basic information, b) a calendar of events, and c) some contact information (maybe based on region?). Like I think I said, this could just be updated monthly by someone who has a handle on the global reach of BarCamp.
I’m glad someone responded!
