iPlayer Screensaver override
iPlayer - why not have it disable the screensaver whilst playing? It's really annoying when it kicks in half way through Hustle!

Inappropriate? It is annoying isn't it? I get that too... iPlayer videos run in the browser using Adobe Flash. Sadly there is currently no way to tell Flash to disable the system screen saver when in full screen. Until that changes there's nothing we can do about this problem.
As a stop-gap solution, you could just lengthen the amount of time until your screen saver kicks in to an hour, which should cover most BBC programmes. Modern LCD screens are far less sensitive to a static image than their cathode ray tube predecessors and so (assuming that's what you have) the extra time spent without a screen saver is unlikely to make a difference within the operation life of the monitor. -
Inappropriate?which version - Desktop or streaming? iPlayer is many different guises these days....

Inappropriate? Can you tell us which operating system you are using? According to this previous question (http://getsatisfaction.com/bbc/topics...) Adobe claim that both Flash in a web page and the desktop version should override the screen saver when in full screen mode.
Could you be having the same problem as Scott, the poser of the previous question? -
Inappropriate?Have you searched the official BBC iPlayer help pages as this should be covered there http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk...

Inappropriate?I'm on XP Pro. I've checked the help link above and that just tells me it should override, but it doesn't. Do I need to download a new version of the iPlayer client, or Flash?
-
Inappropriate?I don't think Flash overrides the screen saver on either of my macs (both on OSX 10.4). I've set a hot corner up so that when I move the mouse to the top right the screensaver is overridden.
I’m contented

Inappropriate?Nice solution Adam. I'm on Vista so i use the mobility centre an put the laptop in presentation mode to disable the screensaver
-
Inappropriate?Either Way you can always set the Screensaver timer to never so that it never gets turn on when you are watching.
-
Inappropriate?I find this all quite odd. Just ditched my PC which ran XP Pro, and i-Player online in the browser would never be interrupted by the screensaver when in full screen mode, just as programs on my machine like VLC player were never interrupted. I'd done no special settings voodoo, it was just so.
Now I'm on new PC using Vista and screensaver always kicks in, and Microsoft's answer? Disable screensaver whenever I want to watch something.
What a PITA.
