About the downtime. We're just having lots of load lately, and this time we had a spike of disk load for the moment, right before routine apache restart procedure. So apache restart took a while longer because of that. Okay, a lot longer than one would expect :)

Inappropriate?ahh. i'm using rackspace and their oh so lovely non-support of rails. they're very good with everything else, so i'm just crossing my fingers at this point.
and i hired a guy to help me through the initial install which is making me hyperventilate less...
