Inappropriate?Hi Ian,
What kind of issues are you having when you try to view the site? Are you only able to see the links at the bottom? -
Inappropriate?no, i think it may be to do with the settings on my laptop, when i try to open beatport, a new window opens for a few seconds, then a sign appears saying that the window is working and then closes. i am using vista, and can access beaport fine on an xp enabled pc ...
-
Inappropriate? It might be your security settings that are blocking the site. You'll want to try clearing your cache and then lowering your security settings. If that doesn't help, I'd suggest that you switch to Firefox. It works a lot better with Beatport anyway... Let me know whether or not this works for you. :)

Inappropriate?ok, thanks, lowering the security level has worked, i can know get onto beatport, i hope this doesn't cause any problems with anything else, if so, then i will try switching to firefox .. thankyou laura for ur help.
-
Inappropriate?Great! :)
You are very welcome... -
Inappropriate?i've actually switched to firefox anyway and its just generally better and quicker on everything ..thanx.
-
Inappropriate?I totally agree. Once I made the switch I never looked back. LOL

Inappropriate?I have windows vista and I can't even get onto the beatport homepage - a message saying that the file isn't recognised and I need to download MIME? wtf?
I tried following Laura's instructions and that didn't help either.
And I've even tried bypassing the homepage by clicking on a link to something within beatport, but I get a communication error (and yes, I cheked i was online).
I've got a beatport a/c that I created on this same computer so I can't for the life of me work out what's going on....and I want to buy some muzak! -
Inappropriate? What browser are you using when you try to access the site?
-
Inappropriate?I have windows vista, the new beatport was working a week ago and now it won't get passed the initializing screen. I have already tried to clear cache, cookies, temp files, etc. I even disabled all firewalls/virus scans, and I already cleared the websites from the macromedia site. I have also lowered the security settings on my IE. I have not loaded any new software nor have i installed any updates. Beatport 3.0 worked perfect, and i really wish they would fix this prob or go back to the old version. please help!
I’m very frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Do you have an alternate browser that you could test with? I would recommend Firefox.
-
Inappropriate?I don't use firefox. Why won't it work with VISTA? I tested it again today... still no go. How can we make this work with VISTA?
-
Inappropriate? If you could try and install Firefox and use that instead of IE to access the site that would help me determine whether or not your issue is browser specific or if it's another setting that could be causing the issue.
You can find Firefox here:
www.mozilla.com/firefox/ -
Inappropriate?i have that problem with safari,
somethings went wrong, i only get html screen to download flash, but its instaled and working perfectly enywhere else
I’m rmc
-
Inappropriate? You might need to un-install and re-install Flash. The lastest version can be found: www.macromedia.com
Please let me know if this doesn't resolve your issue! -
Inappropriate?I already downloaded firefox but when i go into beatport this is what it says.....
www.beatport.com uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate will not be valid until 11/5/2007 6:00 PM.
(Error code: sec_error_expired_certificate) -
Hi Beto,
We made some changes to the site yesterday. Could you please try going to Beatport and let me know if you are still seeing the security certificate message?
Thanks!
Laura -
Inappropriate?I am also cannot access Beatport through Firefox. I have no problems through IE. I have aVast and ZoneAlarm installed and have tried various ways of reducing internet security to get access to Beatport to no avail....

Inappropriate? This is rediculous, I can't access beatport either. I had this problem before, using google chrome, but it would work in IE. Now it will not work in any browser. I get a popup box from IE saying that content is blocked due to an invalid security certificate. I've cleared all cash, installed and uninstalled and reinstalled flash countless times, I removed ALL security settings, even manually enabled display mixed content. But it still gives me the message, with only one option, to "display blocked content."
But when I click on that, it just reloads the page and the same message pops up, with beatport stuck on the loading screen flickering between 100 and 102% which makes no sense either.
This really sucks. -
Inappropriate? In all other browsers, it will only show a text only page with a broken picture link that downloads flash....again.
I’m frustrated

Are you connecting through a router by chance? If so, could you try connecting directly to see if that makes a difference? -
Inappropriate?i can't load beatport through safari, it sticks in the initializing part!!! i have the new flash and emptied cache, 3 days ago it was working, what i did was to update safari, colud that be the problem??

i have exactly the same problem with my brand new mac! :((( -
Inappropriate?Do you have any sort of ad blockers running? If so can you please disable them and see if you can load the site?
-
today i opened beatport in safari and it magically worked, i didn't change anything, hopefully it will stay like this, thanks to beatport assistance if they had something to do with it.

We've spoken with Apple and it turns out there is an issue on their side with the new version of Safari. I'd recommend that you use Firefox in the meantime. -
thanks for looking into that. I'll switch to firefox for the time being -
No problem. Hopefully it will be fixed soon! -
Inappropriate?Et quelle surprise, I cannot access Beatport either. Not for the first time mind, getting stuck on the "initializing" screen has been something of a sport for the past two years. Initially on XP with Firefox. Then with Vista and Firefox. Now with Windows 7 and Firefox 3.5. I'd love to know how much business this has steered away from Beatport over the years. Has Beatport ever considered moving away from badly portable, full of fail, technologies like Flash, and using regular web pages like other e-commerce sites? Probably not, that would be too obvious after all, and might result in them attracting more business.
I won't ask for a solution, because history indicates that I will merely be farting into the wind, and I don't want to pollute the air for y'all just because one music seller isn't capable of organizing a piss-up in a brewery.
I’m absolutely delighted, obviously.

Interestingly, I figured out the cause of this ancient problem yesterday. If Google Analytics is down or running very slowly, users will never get past the initializing screen. It seems Beatport have coded their site in such a way that no Google Analytics equals no Beatport service whatsever. I said "interestingly" because it took me two hours to work out what was causing a problem that Beatport haven't been able to fix for at least two years.
Don't believe me? Try blocking Google Analytics with NoScript and watch Beatport FAIL. What an absolute joke!
Are statistics really more important to Beatport than paying customers? If this wasn't down to sheer incompetence, then apparently so.
