Seeing your Goal weight in other views
FatWatch 1.1 introduces the Goal tab. Right now, it is fairly simple: you pick your start date and your goal weight, and FatWatch does the math to figure out how soon you can get there. If you change your goal weight or planned calories/day, FatWatch will show you what your new expected goal date is. If you change the goal date, FatWatch will tell you how big of a calories/day deficit you need to get there.
This is cool, but right now the Goal is an island: it doesn't show up in any other view. Do you have any ideas for how you would like to see your Goal appear in the Log, Trends, and Chart views?

Inappropriate?I think there should be a line on the graph for goal weight - a line that showed you your target each weigh-in in relation to your actual weight.
-
I can think of two ways to draw a line on the chart: one would be to simply put a horizontal line across to indicate where your goal weight is in relation to your current weight.
The other idea is to draw a sloped line, starting from your selected start date, down to your goal weight to your target date, and then horizontal after that. So the line shows the path you should be on if you want to reach your goal.
Is either of those what you were thinking? -
Inappropriate?Hi, really like the Goal idea, I think this should definately be in the Graph view as it would give you a really good idea of how you are progressing towards your target. Just a different colour line will do the trick.
Maybe the trends view can have a color code (like traffic lights) to show if you are on track to meet your Goal (Green), making good progress (Amber) or Failing to meet your Goal (Red), just a thought.
On a related topic, my Goal date changes everytime I go into the app???
I set it as Dec25th and it is always something different when i go back in, sometimes it is weeks out sometimes days, but it is never what i set it to.
Strange little bug.

Geoff, regarding the bug, FatWatch stores only the start date, goal weight, and the energy change per day; the other fields (such as goal date) are calculated using the first three.
All of the values should be saved together, but perhaps the energy change per day isn't sticking. If so, try changing that value and then changing it back to see if that helps make it stick. -
Inappropriate?Oooh just seen your post Benjamin, sloped line, starting from your selected start date, down to your goal weight to your target date, and then horizontal after that. Sounds the best to me as you can chart against your progress.
Thanks,

Inappropriate?hi
I think it would work best if it simply plotted a different coloured line. This would show the weight you have lost each way in.
Also, more xustimisable ticks would be good - perhaps different colours - e.g. Red for cardio, blue for weights, or whatever you wanted.. -
Inappropriate?graph really sucks no numbers no goal no progress i think i paid too much for this program it have to be improved
I’m ok

I'm working on improving the graph right now. The next update should include numbers and the goal line. -
Inappropriate?and also it would be great if we can cancel the trend thing and just see the real numbers of how much we lost weight
-
Inappropriate?on the goal screen, my weight on the start date does not match what I weighed in on log screen. And I was under the impression you could see your calorie surpluss or deficite for everyday?
-
I am giving you a chance to reply and tell me what I am doing wrong before I rush to leave a review. I sent you an email about another issue Ifigured out, the comment I made in the email about the wheels was wrong also, that was in another apps programs review sorry. -
The reason the numbers do not match is that the Goal screen is using the weight from your trend line (the moving average) instead of what the scale read that day.
For example, if your scale reading was 200 but you have been losing weight, the log entry for the day might read "200 lbs -0.4". That second number is the Variance, the difference between the trend line and your weight that day. If you add them back together, you get the trend weight for the day (200.4 lbs) and that is the number that the Goal screen uses. -
Regarding calorie surplus or deficit, these values can only be computed over a span of several days, because they are a measure of change over time.
The Trends tab will display these numbers for various spans, depending on how much information you have entered. After your first 2 entries, it will show data for the Past Week; when you have more data, it will show Past Two Weeks, then Past Month, and so on. -
Inappropriate?much better graph view now with the new version it would be great if you can show also the real numbers which you lost over time on the logs instead of just showing the trends
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I'd love to see your weight to goal appear as a 3rd column in the list view of daily weights too. I love having the delta to the smoothed weight, but it would be nice to see the delta to goal too.
I’m excited
