Best Buy and price gouging.
My grandpa needed a new computer as his 10 year old windows 98 computer just wasn't cutting it anymore. He asked my dad and I to help him pick one out so we did some research and Consumer Reports says that the eMachines T5254 is one of the best buys for your money. So we did some research and found out the MSRP on it is $399.99. So the main place to buy a computer locally is Best Buy and we went to Best Buys website a couple days ago and sure enough it was $399.99. We couldn't take my grandpa in to get it until today and when we got there Best Buy had it for $499.99 We thought, this couldn't be right. So we looked online and sure enough Best Buy's website had changed as well. So we went to the eMachines website and there was a link to Best Buy to buy it for $399.99. We tried to work it out with Best Buy but they said because they were the only place with it locally they could justify that price.
My grandpa is on a fixed income and arbitrarily charging $100 extra for exclusivity is ridiculous. Especially when the manufacturer says they should be charging $399.99 so Best Buy most likely gets them for around $200-300.
Here is a screenshot of the eMachines website just for proof that it should be $399.

Inappropriate? It may be available now at that price, but no one at the store explained that at all. We explained he was just looking for the computer as he already has a monitor and printer, but they said it was $499 and that because no one else locally had it, they could charge that.
We did end up getting it for $399 thanks to newegg.com though. And it only took 3 days to ship to us and everything works great. The computer is a very good buy, just make sure you price shop and don't let big corporations try to push some crappy deal on you.
I’m undecided
