How should I title my Housing Guide listing?

The title of your Housing Guide listing is important, and is used in many places in the BG Views Network - not just on the Housing Guide. It is also listed on the Housing Community Blog and Off-Campus 411 blog.

It is highly recommended that your title is not long. The address of the unit, or name of the unit, is the bare minimum your title should be. Secondary should be how many bedrooms it has.

Please refrain from using extra spaces, dashes, number (#) signs and the like, and web addresses. A short concise title is best as this title is displayed on many different web pages, such as the right sidebar of the Community Blog and 411 Blog, and Network Home Page.

Example: 1234 Main St. 2 Bedroom

On the actual listing page, the Page Title (at the very top of the page) becomes:

1234 Main St. (Apartment, Bowling Green OH) - BG Views Housing Guide

That is, of course, if when you made your listing, the address is in Bowling Green, OH. The Page Title is dynamically written based on what you chose in the listing. If you add a listing for a House, the Page Title will say House, for example.

Search Engines such as Google and Yahoo no longer rely on meta data such as Keywords and Descriptions like they used to. The Page Title is the most important aspect of any web page, which is why BG Views has taken great care to make search engine friendly Page Titles.

Google also displays web pages higher in SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) when more sites link to each other. In other words, the more link love something has, the better results it will get in search engines. So please link to our Housing Guide, and your listings!
