Why is shopsavvy no longer using Amazon?
Why is shopsavvy no longer using Amazon. I have come to rely on shopsavvy when considering purchases to list on Amazon. Shopsavvy is of no further use to me if Amazon are no longer being used to compare internet prices.

Amazon's policy is that NO mobile application can access their API (despite this fact we are aware of several apps violating their terms and conditions). We have NEVER accessed the API directly.
However, we have always seen Amazon results show up in our various partners feeds and as a result there are Amazon results on ShopSavvy. We have been to Seattle and had extensive meetings with Amazon to enable direct access since 2008, but they have consistently explained, "we do not have the resources to support mobile applications like ShopSavvy." Of course we didn't really understand this position, nor do many of the Amazon employees we are working with.
At the end of the day, the best way to compare Amazon prices exclusively is to use Amazon's application. Our price comparison application attempts to include ALL local and internet results for an item. If the only result you need is Amazon, just use their application.
I hope this helps.

Inappropriate?Sorry I didnt mention that I'm scanning used books. Up untill recently, i'd say 2 to 3 weeks, when scanning any book at all I always got a result back from amazon along with many others biblio etc. Now I get no result from amazon. I just tried again using a book I know to be on amazon and most internet book sites, martina cole the graft, but again the results don't include any amazon price.
I’m confused

Inappropriate?@martin If you were in the UK our partner blocked us because we were making too many calls to their system. It should be working now.

Inappropriate?Hi Guys, I had the same problem today, I'm in the UK, but as Alexander said it appears to be working today. I use Shop Savvy for the same purpose as Martin, and it has pretty much revolutionised my book scouting.
Alexander, you recomended Martin to use the Amazon application, what application is that? I havn't seen an Amazon app that allows quick and easy referance to the used book price the way Shop Savvy does. You may have meant the Amazon website, if so it is really slow to do what I do, especially since it dosn't have the barcode facility. Of course I may have missed something, and if I have I'd love you to let me know, but failing that I'm going to keep using Shop Savvy as long as it keeps working for me.
Thanks

Inappropriate?Glad everything is back to normal. Not sure if the Amazon app is available on Android - but there is one for the iPhone (just search Amazon).
-
Inappropriate?Thanks Alexander,
I just did a quick search of the Amazon site and I did find the application you mentioned, although it is just available for the iPhone and by the looks of it only available to the US and not the UK. It dosn't seem to use a barcode scanner either. At the moment ShopSavvy is the best application available to me without spending in the region of $40 - $50 per month, so as I said befor as long as it works for me I'll be sticking with it. It might be worthwhile for you to put a few features in that are suitable for Amazon book scouting as there is a ready market for an application like this, I think it would be worth while,
Many Thanks
Jim

Inappropriate?Hi Alexander,
Since my last message I have been out looking for books twice, and each time this problem has occured, although at other times I have tested it and it is working fine. I have just tested it again and it isn't working at the moment. I am getting results from the web but not from Amazon. Is this going to be an ongoing problem or can we expect a fix of some sort?
Many Thanks
Jim
I’m worried

Inappropriate? While we still see Amazon results in our feeds, the frequency is much lower than it was in the past. This is due to Amazon turning off the feeds of partners who deliver Amazon results to ShopSavvy. We are in contact with Amazon and have asked them to reconsider their policy of banning mobile applications like ShopSavvy from their API.
