Pedestrian crossings on Poplar Rd roundabout, Kings Heath
The roundabout joining Poplar, Valentine, School, Cambridge and Springfield roads has traffic issues. During rush hour and school run times it gets very busy and can be dangerous for pedestrians, not to mention school children from Kings Heath Primary. It's a busy pedestrian route linking the residential area of south Moseley with Kings Heath High Street and buses into town.
My idea is to paint pedestrian crossings across each road as it enters the roundabout giving pedestrians default right of way as they around. This would slow traffic down and make the route safer.

Inappropriate?Agree it's a problem, but not sure pedestrian crossings are the solution. Four close to the roundabout would really confuse the traffic at the junction, further away and people would be tempted not to use them.
Maybe there's another solution - remove the roundabout and erect lights?
I’m undecided
