bkkeepr keeps tracking same book
bkkeepr keeps logging books as the one I was reading two books ago. So I have now started and finished and started and finished and started the same book. What gives?

Inappropriate?tcn13 - I looked at the incoming DMs for your account, and you're not sending the updates correctly - e.g. you're sending "start 0340827181" when it should be "0340827181 start".
bkkeepr's not very smart, and you're confusing it. It hasn't realised you've started a new one, so it's still logging the last one you started correctly.
This is, basically, an unexpected bug, so I apologise, but if you get the syntax right all will work fine.
