I'd like to use Identi.ca to update bkkeepr instead of Twitter
Identi.ca (which is an implementation of the Laconi.ca software) uses similar APIs to Twitter - change the URL from http://twitter.com to http://identi.ca/api and all the rest of the calls should work OK. In addition, there's no limits on the API.
If you wanted to be *REALLY* swish, you could even set up your own Laconi.ca install on the bkkeepr site, and then, like twitter, people who follow you can be followed automatically by you back.

Inappropriate?Hi Jon - I like Identi.ca a lot as well, and I didn't know they used the same basic endpoints. For now, this isn't something we're going to support, but it's certainly something I'll think about.
Ideally, I'd like bkkeepr to take input from a whole range of services, but since Twitter currently handles all IDing and authentication, it's not the way the system works at the moment.
I’m thinking.

Ah well, it was worth a shot :) It'd be great if, once you've got the ID and auth through twitter, you could add other services (like identi.ca, jaiku or whatever), so the ID and auth comes predominantly from Twitter, but you can also submit from wherever you want.
Another alternative would be to use the URL structure http://bkkeepr/people/<site>/<name> (e.g. http://bkkeepr/people/identi.ca/jonth...) to refer to peoples updates, which would ultimately allow you more flexibility around input sources. For people who already use it via twitter, there could be a redirect from http://bkkeepr/people/FredBloggs to http://bkkeepr/people/twitter.com/Fre....
I guess that's a way off though (if it ever happens :) )
Thanks for considering the idea though, and I'm happy with what you've said.</name></site>
