In response to several recent queries:

Active matters does mean cases.

With each type of Caseload account, you can have a certain number of 'active' matters or cases. This means that you can make changes to the content and billing for those cases.

You can have an unlimited number of 'inactive' matters, where you can see the case data but cannot make changes or update the case file.

Finally, you are free to completely delete a matter at any time.

Hope that clears up some confusion.

Murphy’s Law came down on us hard over the weekend, with many users browsing with Internet Explorer experiencing problems either activating or logging in to their accounts.

Even though there was a fairly simple temporary fix (just restarting Internet Explorer), many first-time users were understandably frustrated. The good news is that these bugs have been fixed, and in doing so we streamlined the account registration process. You no longer have to check your email before activating your account; it’s activated immediately after you register.

Caseload was also unavailable for about three hours Saturday night due to an unforeseen issue involving the switchover to daylight savings time. No data was lost due to this issue (and we keep multiple backups anyway, so your data was always protected regardless) but downtime is always a downer.

We’ve fixed this issue as well, and would like to offer a free month of service to any paying account holder who was impacted by the downtime. Just send us your account name and the approximate time you tried to access Caseload on Saturday.
