Inappropriate?Sorry that you are experiencing a problem, of course I will do my best to help. However, I need to know what username you have at chat.blendapps.com and what chat room specifically it is that you are having a problem with so that I can track down what the cause of the problem is.
Please send me your chat.blendapps.com username and the code you have pasted into your Ning page from chat.blendapps.com in order to get your chat. If you do not feel comfortable with sharing it here on getsatisfaction then you can send me that info via http://www.blendapps.com/contact.
Thanks

Inappropriate?Since I have received no more details about this problem I will mark it as solved, please reopen this if the problem still exists.
Common causes for getting the error message "This is currently not available are":
- The meebo chat room has been deleted in the chat.blendapps.com dashboard, but the code to use it is still used in the Ning pages
- The code used in the Ning pages to show the chat room has been modified and broken

Inappropriate?Hi, Andreas. This problem went away on its own for about 24 hours but is recurring today. At no time throughout all of this (first occurrence of problem, problem resolving itself, problem recurring) have I changed any settings or code on this chatroom.
I've sent you my specifics via blendapps.com. Thanks!
I’m sad

Inappropriate? Thanks for the info Skahfeehouse. I am looking in to it.

Inappropriate?Your chat room seems to be working again. When it does not work is it then a problem for all users or just some users?
-
Inappropriate? It's back down again. Wen it's down, it's down for everyone.
-
Inappropriate?OK, I recreated the problem and solved it. This is what I did:
- Right click in the chat room, choose "settings" to open the Flash Player Settings. There you have to make sure that "widget.meebo.com" has the right to use some local storage. Without some local storage the Meebo chat rooms do not work (at least not very well). In this screenshot I have allocated 100kb for widget.meebo.com.

- Clear your browser cache. This is done differently depending on what browser it is. In Firefox 3 it is tools->Clear Private Data, in Internet Explorer Tools->Internet Options->General (delete browser history)
- Restart the browser, make sure that all instances/windows of the browser are shut down before you start it again.
The steps above solved the problem for me. Please let me know if you have success or not.
I’m happy to make progress

Inappropriate?Hi! Sorry, never got a notification email that there was a new reply.
My Flash Player settings already match yours (100 KB allowed to widget.meebo.com).
I also discovered a few days ago that clearing my browser cache is a temporary solve, but the problem always recurs within 24 hours and I have to clear my cache again. I'm running Firefox 3.0.1 -
Inappropriate? When you cleared the cache did you also delete any cookies from meebo.com? If not please try that and let me know if it works. I can no longer recreate the problem after my cache clearing, so at least that fixed part of the problem.
Thank you for your patients, we are going to fix this somehow! -
Not sure if I did before, but I just cleared my cookies now. We'll see what happens! -
Inappropriate? It took 8 days, but the problem is finally popping up again after clearing my cookies.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?Sorry to hear that it is back. Could let me know what operating system, what version of Flash and what browser (type & version) you are running? When I have that info I will contact Meebo support to get their help to figure this one out.
-
Inappropriate?I am having the same problem. I have two chat rooms and one works fine but the other one gives me an error message that the room has been closed. I will attempt to clear cache and cookies and hopefully it will work. i would like to roll this out to all of my members (over 2000 and counting) but not if it will break down every day.
-
We would very much for you to roll it out to all of your members as well, and if we could get some more information from you we can start investigating your problem. Please let us know if it is only you having a problem on once machine with the Meebo chat room, or if it is several people and on several machines. It would also help greatly if you could let us know the operating system, what version of Flash and what browser you are using. Finally, the most important thing, is if you could send us the id of the chat room that you have a problem with. The easiest way to find this id is by going into the dashboard at chat.blendapps.com, go to the edit page of the chat room in question and then copy the URL from your browsers addressbar.
Either post this info here on getsatisfaction or send it to us via the contact form on blendapps.com if you want to keep it private. -
Inappropriate?I just tried this too on my ning network (Firefox 3.0.3) and I get the same error
http://empathcommunity.ning.com/
Chat room on meebo is Empath Community
I was able to install the app and it worked for me for a few minutes. Then I closed the browser. When I came back online, I saw only the error. Clearing cookies did not help.
I tried it using Internet explorer and did not see at the problem at my first attempt.
Thanks
-
Inappropriate?Ah well, clearing both the cache and the cookies fixed it...
-
Inappropriate?ARG! The problem is back again when I log in later. Can you figure out what the problem is? I have a lot of members who are not tech savvy and asking them to clear their cache everyday is not a good option.
Thx!
-
Inappropriate?Elise,
I can reach the chat room on empathcommunity.ning.com, so it is not everyone that has a problem. This is of course not much of a comfort, but still that means that most of your members probably can use the chat. Could you please let me know what OS (WIndows XP? Windows Vista? Mac OSX?) you are running and what version of Flash you have installed for Firefox. Any such info will help in my hunt for the solution to this annoying problem. -
Inappropriate?I'm on Window XP, Shockwave flash 9.0 r124.
Yes, it does work the first time you login. I only saw the problem on returning visits much later.
Thanks -
Inappropriate?Thanks for the details Elise.
-
Inappropriate?I'm running into this problem daily when I login to my ning web site...
50% of my users are on firefox (I have google analytics on this site) so this is a major usability issue, even though there is a work around.
Can you reproduce it?
Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help troubleshoot.
Thanks
Elise
I’m anxious
-
Inappropriate?Elise,
Yes I can reproduce it in some of my own chatrooms. We are working on a solution!!!!
Thanks -
Inappropriate? The last few months I have continously added fixes that should address this problem, and I can no longer recreate it myself. Do anybody still have this problem or is it all working as it should now? Please let me know :)
