inappropriate blueadvertise ads
Hi,
I have the blendapps videochat installed in my Ning community, and up to yesterday was very happy with it.
Yesterday, several users complained that they have been served inappropriate ads (containing nudity). Then it got worse: antivirus suites that several users had installed on their local machines kicked in and disconnected the users from the chat.
Example: Avira Antivir blocked http://exchange.blueadvertise.com/468...
Any ideas or suggestions?

Inappropriate? This should NOT happen and I am sorry it did. I will look into it!

Inappropriate? All ads should now be much more family friendly, ie no nudity. Thanks for pointing this out!

Inappropriate?yeah andreas, thanks for being responsive to that. I had a lot of complaints before about userplane's ads on their "directory" version, especially in regards to overly aggressive ads selling smileys and antivirus software. Also ads with aggressive popups. Many users complained that they got malware from these ads. When i complained to useplane, i got no answer.
Note to everyone reading... this is not a complaint about the Blendapps version of the product, as i have not had that problem with it. Im just noting it as something for everyone to keep a lookout for. Malicious advertisers can slip things into today's semi-automated ad streams and it takes a bit of community policing to keep it all clean. This is a great place to report strange activity if you notice it.

Inappropriate?Scan type: Realtime Protection Scan
Event: Virus Found!
Virus name: Bloodhound.PDF.1
My antivirus just alerted me about a malicious file in my temp directory relating to the banner ads at the bottom of the chat.
How do we fix this?

Inappropriate? Many people have reported simlar virus problems. I am hunting userplane to give me an answer on this. As soon as I get more info I will let you know!

Inappropriate? The ads in the userplane chatrooms have now been disabled up until this issue has been fixed. Of course this is all very serious, we at Blendapps are not in the business of spreading viruses or anything else that is harmful to the users of our chat solution, and we appologize for all the problems this have caused. Disabling the ads will at least addres this in the shortterm while we and userplane are looking for a long term solution to the problem.
We will keep you updated. -
Inappropriate?Well done. Good policy. Thanks.
