Problem with sizing
I have just added the module and I like the way it works, but the sizing isn't compatable with my main page. I tried it on a different chat page, but it still isn't right. I have taken screen shots so you can see what it looks like. I also took a screenshot of the embed code. I had chosen the size for on the main page.
Thanks,
Cherry

Inappropriate?Yes, I have the same problem.
In the meantime, however, I have actually placed it in the right SIDE-BAR.
I know that it looks very weird.... But the cool thing is that everyone is automatically in the chat room.... no matter what page they may be on....
:-)
I’m happy

Inappropriate? Thanks for all the screenshots Cherry, that makes debugging easier. Unfourtunatly not easy enough. I am trying to reproduce the problem so that I can fix it, but I can not reproduce it at this moment.
If either of you could send me a URL to a page where this problem currently occurers then I could take a look at the source code and see if I can figure it out. Thanks for your patiens! -
Inappropriate?Hi Andreas,
Here is the link to my main page. I had removed the chat, but I put it back on so you could see what I was talking about. The thing is now, that it is only about half of the width of the center portion of the page.
http://nosayudamos.ning.com/
I also have it on its own chat page too. It looks fine on there now.

Inappropriate? Thanks for adding the chat room to your page again, looking at the source was very helpful.
The chat room code on your page is not exctly the same as the one copied from chat.blendapps.com, there are several encoded HTML
tags (ie "<br />") in the code, which then results in a very small userplane chat. I suspect that this code has been added by some intermediate step between being copied from chat.blendapps.com and when used at nosayudamos.ning.com.
To figure out what has caused this I need to know more about your process...
- Did you paste the code into some intermediate program before pasting it into the page at noayudamos.ning.com?
- Do you have any rich text editor that you use when you edit your text boxes or pages? Ie do you have some extra widget/addon/plugin that makes editing the text boxes/pages easier?
- If you are not using any intermediate program or rich text editor I would appreciate if you could describe the process in which you get the code from chat.blendapps.com into your Ning page. What steps do you do, what browser do you use etc.
I’m closer to the solution

Inappropriate?Hi Andreas,
I copied the embed code directly from your site and pasted it to my site. If you look, the embed code that I copied from your site is in the screenshots in my original post. I just checked them on my site and they are the same as the one in the screenshot from your site. -
Inappropriate?Hi Cherry,
The code might look the same, but I doubt that it is exactly the same based on what I can see in the generated source. Somewhere there are a few HTML tags sneaking in, and this might be due to the way we present the code you copy at chat.blendapps.com. I have sent you some code to try via PM at nosayudamos.ning.com. Please let me know if that fixes the problem. -
Inappropriate?Hola Andreas,
Thanks for sending the code again. Unfortunately, there is still a problem. It is too wide for the center column for the main page. It is extending over into the right column. It looks like it needs to lose about 230 to 250 px in width. Here is a screen shot.
I also took a screenshot of the source code, but I don't know if it is a good idea that I post it here. I'll leave it on my main page for a while so you can look at the source code yourself.
The one on the chat page is still ok.
Gracias por todo,
Cherry

Inappropriate? We are making progress! The latest screenshot might look funny, but it is acctually showing the chat room in the size defined in chat.blendapps.com (ie width 640px).
There are two problems here that I will addresse:
- The chat room size for Ning front page center column is incorrect in chat.blendapps.com. That will be fixed.
- The way the code is presented in chat.blendapps.com sometimes (in your case for example) means that there are a few stray HTML tags sneaking in and messing up the code.
These fixes will go live during the next day or so. In the meantime you can get the chat working for noayudamos.ning.com by:
1. Change the "width" in the Blendapps code on your site to 500px.
2. Go into chat.blendapps.com and change the width of your chat room to 500px (this is done by editing your chat room, you find the width under "advanced settings").
I hope this fixes the problem for good!

Inappropriate?Cherry: I am in contact with the Userplane support department in order to fix this. Thank you once again for your patients!
-
Inappropriate?OK, after some more investigation my conclusion is that the space in the front page is too narrow too show the userplane chat room. In the near futurer we will try to address this by minimizing the left column in the chat (ie where you have user list etc) if there is not enough space to show it all. We will also work on improving the options for sizing the chat rooms in general, so that the same chat room can be used in several pages with different sizes.

Inappropriate?Hi Andreas,
Thanks for getting back to me about this. I knew that you probably wouldn't be able to come up with an immediate fix for this problem, My point was to make you aware of it so that Blendapps could be working to improve it in a future release. I really like the userplane a lot. It works well and I especially like the fact that it uses the website member information and they don't have to sign up for a different account. I've removed it from the main page now.
I'll be patienty awaiting the release of new codes in the future. I'm really wanting to use this as my only chat application on my site.
Saludos,
Cherry -
Inappropriate? Thanks again Cherry. It's great that you suggest new ideas for us and makes us aware of what is not working. That way we can keep on improving Blendapps.

Inappropriate?Ok, I've been looking all over the net trying to find people with this issue. Looks like I found them!
I have the same problem here and it's just very unfortunate because almost no other service offers an integrated chat for Ning. And Ning's native chat feature is really bad.
The last employee reply on this topic was 9 months ago. Has anyone found a solution in that time? -
Hi Sidian,
I am using it now on my page and the problem has been fixed. You can see it at http://nosayudamos.ning.com/page/priv...
