Search only works on gears-enabled browsers
Search does not work for browsers which are not gears-enabled. All it says is "nothing to see here, move along".
If I do the same query with gears enabled, search works quickly.
The only browser that I can enable gears on seems to be Firefox. This limits your functionality for a lot of people.
This is one of many reasons I think you should have thrown it open to beta test first...

Inappropriate? We've disabled server-side search for now, in order to have more server resources to complete the migration. Our developers have turned off a few other resource intensive features and functions which may affect the migration for now in order to complete the migration in the fastest possible time–we hope to restore everything back after migration is complete, so please bear with us for a bit.
