No late fees, but hidden charges elsewhere...
Today, I learned the (almost) hard way, that despite the assurance that Blockbuster charges "no late fees", if you don't bring a movie back within 5 days of renting it, you're automatically charged for each movie!
It would be nice if they let you know that when you rent the movie. Or, better yet, why not make that public?! Oh, no, that won't work because that would mean they would have to find some other way to supplement the income they used to get from collecting late fees.
So, for everyone out there, if you don't return your movies within 5 days you will automatically be charged for them. You can get out of the charge by returning the movies within (I believe) 15 days. However, after 20 days you "own" the movies as far as Blockbuster is concerned, whether you want them or not.
You have been warned.

Inappropriate?Hi! I can understand your frustration!! I have been a member of blockbusters online program for about 2 years now if not longer! I LOVE it though!! I wanted to post for you the terms I found online..
Store rentals are due back at the date and time stated on the transaction receipt. There is no additional rental charge if a member keeps a rental item up to 7 days beyond the pre-paid rental period. After 7 days beyond the due date, Blockbuster will automatically convert the rental to a purchase on the 8th day and will charge the member the selling price for the item in effect at the time of the rental. Member then has 30 days to return the product and receive a credit for the selling price charged, less a $1.25 restocking fee. These terms available at participating stores only. Franchisee restocking fees may vary.
It is also printed on the receipt. Mine is listed under the "Be Kind, return on time" saying...
I have turned in SO MANY movies past the 7 day period & they refunded my money (minus the 1.25) within hours... I think the longest was a day because it was over the weekend. I go to blockbuster Every weekend so non of my movies are returned within 5 days. We push the 7 day thing almost every checkout lol.
Just keep an eye on your receipt for your "Own it -date- for only $xx.xx more" & you will not have any issues!! Just return it before the own it on date!!
