How do you make that Gibraltar?
Love the Gibraltar, but what is in it? Do I want to know?

Inappropriate? The top secret ingredients are: Coffee and Milk. A Gibraltar is really just a tiny latte -- double espresso, milk, and a bit of foam.
Some Gibraltar trivia:
- The name "Gibraltar" comes from the type of glass. See http://www.amazon.com/Libbey-16-Piece...
- Gibraltars are only served "for here" since putting it in a different cup kills its Gibraltarness.
- A Ritual they only serve to go for the last half hour before they close, but if you order a Gibraltar you can always get it in a real glass. (This is great to know if you hate paper cups.)
- Substitutions are generally not allowed; there is no decaf or skim Gibraltar.

Inappropriate?Great to know.
And I received this reply five minutes after having left Blue Bottle where I was drinking another Gibraltar (while sedating the kids with a chocolate macaroon).

Inappropriate?my brother-in-law just ordered a decaf gibraltar at Blue Bottle and they served it right up. I guess the rules are loose on this one.
-
Inappropriate? It may only be Ritual that enforce the strict constructionist view of the Gibraltar. Blue Bottle invented the drink, so I guess they can do whatever they want with it.

Inappropriate?I've never had one, but it sounds like it's just a piccolo latte (latte in a macchiato glass).
An old drink with a new name? Sounds tasty though! -
Inappropriate?More trivia: At the Blue Bottle Cafe you can order the Gibraltar's fraternal twin, the SG-120, which is also named after the glass it comes in.
It holds the same heavenly contents as a Gibraltar:
I’m obsessed and in love with Blue Bottle
