How do you set up Jott to work with Mentat?
We just finished Jott integration for Mentat and we can't wait to get people using this new feature. In case you don't know, Mentat is a task manager and productivity web service for teams and personal users - and now we've introduced the ability to leave tasks and ideas for yourself via your cellphone.
It's actually really easy to setup and you can have it up and running within a few minutes.
Here are the steps you must take:
1. Go to Jott and set up a free account.
2. Once you are logged into Jott, click on the "Jott Links" tab.
3. In the very bottom right hand corner, you will see a button that says " Developers - Got a custom link to add? Add it here. " Click on it.
4. Now you are ready to set up one of your Mentat projects to be Jott enabled.
In the "Link Name" field, type in the name of the project you want to have Jott support for. This is what you will use when you call Jott and we recommend naming it after the project you want to leave tasks for.
In the Setup URL copy and paste this link :
http://mentat.brainmurmurs.com/home/new_jott_link
In the Link URL copy and paste this link:
http://mentat.brainmurmurs.com/jott/new_task
Make sure to click on the agreement to the Terms of Service and press "Add".
5. You will now be redirected to a Mentat page which will allow you to choose the name of the project you want to set up with Jott. Choose the correct one and click Submit.
6. If you have any more projects you want to use Jott with, click on the link that will take you back to the Jott.
7. Now, call Jott as you normally would (1-866-JOTT-123).
8. When you asked about who you want to Jott, say the name of your project.
9. Leave a brief message for your task name and hang up. (You don't have to press "1", you can just hang up.).
10. In a few minutes, check your Mentat project and see if the message from Jott has arrived. You should see a new task name with the message you left on the phone, and the description text should be a direct link to the voice message you originally left.

Inappropriate?I've talked with engineering over at Jott. They've agreed to provide some additional API features that will allow us to streamline the setup process. Once it's in place we'll be able to auto-populate the links and provide a suggested link name based on user input from the Mentat site.
We'll probably have this feature turned around within a day or so of getting the go-ahead from Jott.
