Mixed up Family and Variation names after import
I have a strange issue, which I can reproduce on multible machines (even brand new setups). After font-import, some fonts and variations have get strange names (see screenshots).
Some of my fonts, even get completely shortend (Arial Narrow --> A Family) and all additional information get shortend to a single letter too.
The font itself is fine! If I activate it, its probably named in all applications and the system font-tool.
I'm a little confused, not finding anyone else with this problem – the only thing, I could imagine is that is has something to do with my/our language. I'm from Germany, so perhaps this is the problem? On the other hand, I have read from other Germans, that they are working fine with FontCase.
This is one of the tested setups:
Mac OS 10.5.8
MacBook Pro, Intel Core 2 Duo
FontCase 1.2.1
I hope, you can fix this. Let me know, if I can help.
Best regards from sunny Black Forest,
Chriz

Inappropriate?I have a small update on my problem – seems like the evil fonts are mostly ttf – never happens with otf.
-
Inappropriate? This bug is very annoying. It basically means that Fontcase is unusable for new users like me because they can't import any font without making an horrible mess in their library.
Also, in reply to the previous poster, I did notice this bug in various fonts, including in OTF and DFONT format.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I just downloaded Fontcase and ran into exactly the same issue. Completely munged my entire font library. I'm slowly working through it all to fix them, but it's going to take me a while to correct everything.
This should be priority #1 to be fixed ASAP!
(And I'll agree with Gilles that it happens for all types of fonts, not only TTF)

Inappropriate?Very sorry to hear about this issue and I apologize for not replying sooner. (I was unexpectedly without internet the past week)..
I'll look into the issue immediately. -
Inappropriate?I believe I have found the source of the problem. Before releasing it as an official update, I wanted to ask you to verify if the problem is fixed. You can download the beta version here:

Looking forward to your feedback, and again I have to apologize for my late answer. -
Inappropriate?Hi Pieter, thanks for your feedback and the quick fix. I think a week or so is absolutely ok for response.
Somehow the problem is fixed, somehow it's even worse – please see for yourself (Screenshots all from System-Font Zapfino [TTF]).
I cleaned all caches and deleted all FontCase files first.
Best regards
Chriz

Inappropriate?I just tried removing my Fontcase vault and app and launching the beta version you linked above. This way the app would start with a fresh library. I let it simply import the system fonts and, like Qriz, got everything in some form of Japanese. See the image below.
I’m confused

Inappropriate? Thanks both of you for your very quick response, the following build should fix all this. Sorry to keep bothering you:

Inappropriate?Just to confirm: it now works for me too. Thank you very much for the quick fix.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Oke, I'm glad it is working now. I'll release it as an update immediately

Inappropriate?Had the same and the fix fixed the import, but the compare button is broken (I think), now. I'm sorry to be a dilemma, here.

I saw your other support topic about this. I'll get to that one soon. -
Inappropriate?(and wanted to say, p.s. That I think it is a very cool app. A job very well done!)

Inappropriate?I'm happy to have been able to fix this bug so quickly. Sometimes they are easy, sometimes not. :-)

Inappropriate?Sorry to say, but I purchased Fontcase a couple days ago and got exactly the same problem as originally described. It was when it automatically added all my installed fonts. I actually didn't want most of them, so I removed them anyway, but I distinctly remember getting multiple fonts with one letter names.
-
Inappropriate?I know what you mean, but that was a bug that was fixed in a recent update.
