Delete files directly in Boxee.
I see that I have about 20-30 duplicate files... between my two external Hard drives, and my brothers computer...
It would be great to have the option of deleting the file, as well as deleting it from the library. Rather than having to go manually in by ftp or in windows/OS X and delete the file.
Delete option should only show if your access to the external drive have PERMISSION to delete files.

I like this idea but there should be an Admin type option. I have boxee setup for my family and I don't want them deleting files or even have an option to do so but when I'm using it, that might be something I would want but I am happy deleting from Windows too

Well I think that if you can download content via Boxee (torrent or not), then you should be able to delete via Boxee...

From a DVR perspective, delete is important. I use MythTV to record my shows and boxee to watch them. Its not convenient (and loses WAF) to have to go back into the Myth frontend to delete.

Inappropriate?we always thought boxee is not about media management, but rather about access to media, and that you'll do tasks like organizing, renaming, deleting through a web interface or the computer.
but maybe we're wrong regarding 'delete'

I think the two really go hand-in-hand, Avner. When Boxee fetches all sorts of media, and you've got a dedicated HTPC, things are much easier (imo, at least). Think of it maybe like a keyboard. All sorts of shortcuts exist so that when you're flying away typing, you don't have to take your hands off the keyboard to do simple things like right click, close, minimize, maximize, and switch between programs. That doesn't make the keyboard a mouse, but it does make life easier. -
i agree. avner, you state that boxee is about access rather than management, yet the software is filled with potential to do both well. the reason programs like iTunes, iPhoto, Picasa, etc. work so seamlessly is that they provide access and organization to media in one tight package. ive been using boxee for a few months now, and i dont think i have ever seen so much potential in a free media program. its extremely frustrating to the users, however, when the dev team limits its scope from the beginning and asks us to depend on other software (web interface or OS) to complete our media usage. no matter what the team's original purpose was, boxee has grown and developed into something that could easily take over all other media players down the road. isnt that something to strive for? -
As a user, the last thing I want to do is be ungrateful. But it seems like a significant number of would-be users are asking for something materially different from what you insist they need. Isn't there a real chance that the users are right, and you are wrong? Fundamentally, a browser is of much less use to me than a media management system. I STILL use Front Row much more than Boxee because it supports my library, etc. - Boxee is a fraction of my use, because you don't support most of what I need. If I have to use iTunes for media management, than Front Row - which supports the iTunes media management, is MUCH superior to Boxee. Despite the rest of what Boxee brings to the table. You insist that Boxee is not about media management, but then punt on supporting iTunes for media management. I just don't get it - I want to, but I don't -
Boxee is running on my HTPC and I rarely access it (the HTPC) with a keyboard. Being able to delete my disposable media files from withing Boxee would be WONDERFUL. It shouldn't be hard to make it (a password-protected even) option to enable/disable as needed. -

Inappropriate? The quality of some downloaded movie's are not up to scratch and you don't know until you watch them (in Boxee) Very handy!

Inappropriate? Please, Please add this function. Media Center has it, and I want to delete a movie when I'm done with it. I don't want to have to manage it from the computer.
If you're hesitant about this feature, consider adding a setting to "enalbe file deletions" to make it optional.
I’m sad it's not a feature

Inappropriate?I'm trying to love Boxee, but this "lack of feature" is getting in my way, I was trying to move from Miro and I've gone back, because I can delete.

I’m sad, I can't use Boxee.

Inappropriate?Yes, a delete files function is a must :-)

Inappropriate?Great idea - I download files with are automatically placed in a SMB share folder for Boxee to access. It would be great if I could delete from this share (works with XBMC) directly from the application. I'd never have to open that folder on the computer ;)
I’m happy
