Multiple (External) Monitor (esp. TV) Support
I have a vague memory that this worked once, so it might just be broken in the latest version.
Anyway, I have a TV connected to my Macbook Pro, but when I run Boxee, it defaults to the main laptop monitor.
I can then move it to windows mode, drag it to the external monitor display, and Fullscreen it again, but thats fux0red and does weird resolution things I don't want to know about.
Ideally, Boxee would have an external monitor tab in the settings where I'd tell it to default to my external monitor (if present), and blacken my main display like in VLC.

boxee does support secondary display.
you need to have the secondary display active before starting boxee, then under Settings > Appearance > Screen, select a resolution with an (#2) appended to it. that would be your secondary display.

Inappropriate?I like this idea too - I have tried XBMC before (on PC) and this was the missing feature that drove me crazy. Not such a problem if your device is built/bought to be just a media center, but if you are doing a bit of dual purposing then this is essential.

Inappropriate?i use boxee from a pc that uses my hdtv as a second monitor. this would be great.

Inappropriate? This is an issue with the way XMBC reads resolutions. XMBC/Boxee initially copy over all the resolutions from your primary monitor. When I switch my primary monitor to my external display and run the application, everything works fine and I get the right resolution.
The way to fix this would be to allow custom resolutions. This can't be too hard!
I’m sad

Inappropriate?I'd amend Telecart's idea to offer the user the choice of whether they want the non-Boxee display(s) blacked out. In my case, I often want to use my primary display (a 24-inch external monitor) to get work done while using Boxee in full-screen mode on my MacBook Pro's built-in 15-inch screen. As far as I can tell, there is currently no way to do this. If switch Boxee to windowed mode, move to MBP display, and then hit full-screen, it just puts it right back on the primary external display. It's frustrating that, unlike VLC, there is no Boxee setting that allows me to define which display should be the default full-screen target.

Inappropriate?I think any worthy HTPC software should have this option to choose the default monitor where Boxee is launched to.

Yeah, that doesn't actually work. It changes the resolution alright, but keeps it on the main MBP display. -
Inappropriate? This definitely does not work on the Windows Alpha. I have to switch my TV to be the primary monitor and put the icon on that desktop before it considers it the primary screen and gives me the correct resolutions.
I’m confused

Inappropriate?Boxee only supports secondary display in the mac build. the windows build uses the SDL graphics library which doesn't support multiple monitors yet. that's why xbmc for windows has the same problem.
If your only concern is getting boxee to start on your secondary display in fullscreen mode automatically you can try a program like Ultramon or Display Fusion to do it for you. -
I'm using the mac build. -
Inappropriate?I have the same issue.
I'm running boxee on my Macbook Pro and using a TV as my secondary display.
When I try to fullscreen Boxee on the TV (second display) it just maximizes on my computer screen in an unusable resolution.
I noticed that VLC implemented secondary display full screening really well and I can even activate it from the Apple Remote.
Let me know if there's anything else I should try to get this working, or if I should just wait for a new version.
Thanks,

Inappropriate?Joining the crowds... I'm running boxee on windows 7, and while I waited impatiently for this alpha, I'm really disappointed by this secondary display issue. When changing the screen resolutions in the setting panel, I don't see any resolution that relates to my secondary screen.
This is a deal breaker for me. I'd LOVE to use boxee, but I must be able to play videos on my TV and not my laptop.
Please help. I'd really love to make you my default media center.
I’m frustrated
