Supporting remote/local iTunes libraries.
Support connecting to a iTunes library on the local network (look for it using Bonjour?)
Also, if an iTunes library is found on the Machine running (More useful for the OSX version, not AppleTV), allow Boxee to get the music from there.

i agree. it's a must. 300M or more iTunes users means we can not ignore the fact people have invested lots of time in building their libraries.

I think the world of music is just too broad a dataset for Boxee to rely on internet sources of metadata. The answer is exactly as suggested above - reading metadata from each music file's ID3 tags and using that as a search term to scrape *additional* data from the internet sources (band biographies, lyrics, photographs, YouTube and MTV video links, etc)
All great ideas that Boxee does well, but the track naming data MUST come from the ID3 tags first and foremost. Too many people have invested too much time in getting those right. The system works, don't reinvent it.
At the moment I can't use Boxee for music at all - it just doesn't recognise most of my music collection. Worse than that, it identifies things incorrectly - much more frustrating than just not showing it at all.

Yeah, i think boxee's music player really needs working on... i have large amounts of music which either aren't recognised or are catalogued incorrectly by boxee just because it's from albums not listed on last.fm or is named slightly differently. Boxee should take music info from metadata in the files first, then add any info it can find online second.
I’m confident

songbird (http://www.getsongbird.com/) and winamp should be included as well... -

Inappropriate? Also, it would be nice if it could pull TV Shows, Movies and Podcasts from iTunes as well. I can point Boxee to the folders, but because iTunes stores everything differently and uses a lot of metadata, Boxee just cannot understand what files are what.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I store all of my iPhoto pictures and my iTunes music on my desktop "cloud" to be automatically synced via MobileMe. I need it to recognize the cloud, as well as be able to understand the format that iTunes and iPhoto use.
-
Inappropriate?I like this idea for the AppleTV in addition to the MacOSX version. I sync a big library to my AppleTV, and I'd love it if Boxee on my ATV simply knew how to find it out of the box.
-
Inappropriate?Use of the Mediamonkey database would also be nice
-
Inappropriate?I use firefly on my droboshare and iTunes picks it up as an iTunes share right away. Boxee being able to see this without needing to index the music would be great.

Inappropriate? Some here: I would love to see this implemented in a future version of Boxee!
I’m confident!
