Why "recently viewed" on the front page?
What are the chances that I will want to watch something *again* that I have recently viewed? Probably very small.
"Recently *unfinished*" sort of makes sense, but *new, favorite*, or unwatched, or *similar to your recent views* or *totally opposite of your recent views* (call it the "change of pace menu") make more sense.
I don't need to see a thumbnail of what I've just watched, I'm not an amnesiac.

Inappropriate?I agree, the xbox360 netflix integration shows what percentage video's you have watched. This premium real estate would be better used to remind you of what video's you have no finished. But just one rule I would like to define, anything 95% or more completed should be disregarded since that is typically the credits and often when a video is stopped.
-
Inappropriate?i believe 95% is too high maybe the video or streaming you were watching stopped or you took a break ..so you want to play it again or maybe you want to show someone else the clip you watched as it was so great ..
-
Inappropriate?Marcel, I agree with you to a point. I think maybe a menu option within the video/music/pictures section of recently view media would make more sense as this would be a less frequent activity.
-
Inappropriate?Justin nice option ..something to think about
-
Inappropriate?I would also like to see this section changed to Unwatched with the ability to mark items as watched/partially watched/unwatched; and also for items not to be marked as watched as soon as you open them...and not as partially watched until a little way in (e.g. 10% or 5 minutes; which ever comes sooner).
You could mark it as watched when reaching the end, it's easy enough to skip over credits. -
Inappropriate?i think probably the best thing to do is let the user have more control over what appears on the home screen. Recently Used may be great for some, yet useless to others.

^ I like this idea, so when can we see that function?" ^ -
Inappropriate?I'm in favour of dumping "recently watched" and changing it to "unfinished".
A simple rule for this should be, for streaming stuff: if the user didnt hit stop then the stream was probably interrupted and you can consider it unfinished. for on-disc / on-network stuff, did the user hit stop more than 1 minute from the end (total running-time) of the show? (ie, during the closing credits) - then it should be considered unfinished.
But, since we might like to keep "recently watched", why not just keep it as a panel on the home screen, off to the bottom of the screen (like on the settings screen). -
Inappropriate?+1 for "Favorites" instead of "Recently Viewed" as default, but having it optional via a skin setting would be even better so those who want to change it can :)
-
Inappropriate?I agree - it would be far more useful to see the 'next episode' after the one I just watched in this space than to see the one I watched.
-
Inappropriate?I agree, this doesn't make much sense. But it would be a great place to put an all in one queue of recently added videos to be watched. (IE new videos in my queue from Hulu, Netflix, etc...)
-
Yes, I'd prefer this to a listing of what has already been watched ! -
Inappropriate? Its a great feature for when you are watching series and dont know the last watched episode!!
Sometimes you watch a show and forget the number of the episode you where watching...

That's only because the season functionality is broken - I should be able to browse a series and press play on the series item, and play the next unwatched episode. The whole point of a smart media player is that it can think for you. -
Inappropriate?I'd also see much more benefit from a "most viewed", "favorites", or a predictive/related query. I would at least like an easy option to clear the recently used items!
-
Inappropriate?(sorry if this is a double post)
I'd like to see "People who like the same videos as you also like these videos:"
It kind of builds on the whole "social" aspect, which seems at this point to be a bit tacked on, and opens you up to new experiences. Maybe it could be connected to a feature that let's you find people with similar taste, regardless of whether you know them (if they opt in for being found).
I’m excited

post that as a suggestion; it sounds good to me! -
Actually, I already suggested this as an idea: http://gsfn.us/t/2n9v -
Inappropriate?I do find it useful to check out the 'recently viewed' stuff from my top buddies. I agree that 'recently viewed' for your own user account is useless, maybe it should have only the 'just added' or recommend stuff based on what you've already viewed.
I’m hopeful
