Ultra104 - winvnc service not installed. "Failed to connect to server."
UltraVNC Service will not install after manual instance was removed. I had UltraVNC 1.0.4 installed on a few machines and tried to uninstall using VNCScan. This seemed to work, but upon running the installation through VNCScan, the winvnc service will not install on the machine. . I have tried rebooting several times and even tried deleting the service manually, running the UltraVNC uninstaller, etc.. to no avail. Please help!

Inappropriate? On the remote computer, is there still a service called winvnc orphaned there? Do you also see a service called uvnc_service?
The initial install of UltraVNC was done manually using the download from their website, correct? -
Inappropriate? The initial install was done through the website. All services of old VNC versions were removed. The last one on their was a service of name "winvnc.exe", which is installed when you install UltraVNC 1.0.4 RC.
Thank you in advance for help!!!
I’m still frustrated
-
Inappropriate? Are you able to deploy the older UltraVNC to the computer using VNCScan? This is just a test to see if the ability to remotely add a service is still possible.
-
Ok, after the older Ultra is installed, try uninstalling it by right-clicking the computer, choosing VNC Management, and then uninstall VNC.
After it has been uninstalled in this fashion, Confirm that it has been uninstalled, and then try pushing the Ultra104 to the computer. -
Inappropriate?I have tried this. The problem is that everything looks to be installed correctly, except for the "winvnc.exe" (Ultra104 Service). The service will simply not install, even after several reboots.
Is there a script that will do a complete Ultra Cleanup? -
Inappropriate?I've created a remote script to clean up any fragments of VNC from remote systems. You can download the wizard that will install the script into VNCScan for you at http://www.bozteck.com/downloads/unin...
Close VNCScan, and then run the MSI. It should just silently put things into place so that when you open VNCScan back up, it will be an available script in the "Remote Scripts" menu.
Try running that against the computer in question to see if this puts things back into order. After it has ran, you should be able to deploy UltraVNC 1.0.4 using the standard deployment wizard and the service should install correctly.
I’m Hopeful
