Carbon Footprint Averages
When the site tells me by what percentage my footprint is higher than the average, what is the average? Is this the average of people who use the site, or is it a predetermined average? For example, my residence carbon footprint is 12.46 which is, according to the site, 165% higher than the average. ? Either I'm one a few who live in a house, or I'm gluttonous, or there's been a calculation error (other than my 97% CFL usage being entered at less than one percent).

Inappropriate?Sarah,
"Average" is for the average America. We'll add some language to clarify that on the footprint calculator soon.
As for the residence footprint -- our science & tech team is researching this. I don't think It appears as though we have some bad data somewhere in the residence model.
This is one of our top-priorities. The last thing we want to do is provide inaccurate estimates.
I’m anxiously awaiting a fix

Inappropriate?I don't know what the averages are nor do I know what the numbering and evaluation system is for measuring one's carbon footprint, but I recently computed my family's on another site. It was about 3.6 and was rated as very good to excellent. I'm striving to get as close to 0 as possible. I don't think you're gluttonous, rather no aware of your consumption habits.
I’m unsure
