My Brightkite posts don't seem to be cross-posting with Twitter this morning. Is that still down?

Sending Email Commands cause double actions
When I send in commands (check in's, photos, etc) by email they post to my account twice. All the commands work like I expect, they just show up twice. -

Email photos don't show up Last reply on May 17, 2008 16:47.
since i tried to reply to a previous post and got no response, i've decided to post a new topic with the same thing
I've tried emailing photos a few times from my phone to the email address on my "Mobile" page, but nothing's appearing on the site. Any suggestions as to what's up? I've tried emailing from my computer and laptop as well with no success. -

Set location by phone and zip code.
It'd be handy if Brightkite allowed me to set my location by calling in and entering in my zip code. Texting is an additional cost for me. -

XFN Standard Utilization Last reply on July 08, 2008 19:48.
It would be really cool to utilize the XFN standard. This can help Brightkite share and work well with other social sites. In case you are not familiar with XFN it could be a simple as:
hyperlinks to my page would include a rel='me' tag.
links to friends could would include a rel='friend' tag.
Digg and Twitter currently use XFN. And I can see many aggregation apps looking for it. I just saw a presentation by Don Park who spoke about XFN and a XFN spider he wrote. Very interesting.

I really like the site and am excited for you!

Periodic Auto Check-in using GPS (iPhone) Last reply on July 08, 2008 17:37.
I am from the Netherlands and I am soon going to buy an iPhone. I believe Brightkite is very promising since it is one of the best location based services outhere for Europeans, and unlike Loopt its free. My issue:
I believe this service to be only very successful if it can run completely automatically. With this i mean that the application runs in the background (in the iPhone's case with the push service apple provides) giving periodic checkins wherever i might be, continuously, every 5 or 10 minutes or so. I hope this is possible to implement, optional at-least. Please let me hear from one of the people inside the company if this option is or will be in the pipeline. -

Emailed reports of failure could be more detailed Last reply on July 08, 2008 16:30.
This morning I tried to email a photo to Brightkite, and I ended up getting an email back saying "Sorry, but we could not post your photo." Okay, no prob, something probably bonked, it happens. I try it again: "Sorry, but we could not post your photo."
I didn't figure it out until I got in front of a computer and tried posting the photo through the website. Turns out my wordy caption was 70 or so characters over the limit. :D Okay then! But when I was out and about, the email I got could've said something like, "Sorry, but we could not post your photo, because you do go on. There's a character limit on the caption of (x) characters. If you can edit your caption down, try it again."
Would it be possible to send more descriptive error emails? -

How about more integration and a new API? Last reply on July 08, 2008 16:17.
This is a great service. There are just a couple more things I want to see.
I was going to say better twitter integration, but I just figured out how to do it. So not that. I want to see more ways to find friends, like gmail contacts, facebook friends, myspace, etc. Perhaps an API (if you haven't made one yet that I missed) so that it can be integrated with websites and programs. Perhaps even more in-depth integration with social networking sites than I mentioned.
And more invites. More invites = good. Assuming, of course, your servers can handle it. Don't want the same thing happen here that happened to twitter ^_^ -

Why does a successful UK location search then redirect me to a similarly-named US location? Last reply on July 08, 2008 16:06.
I keep searching for, and finding, Quadrant House in Sutton, Surrey, UK. But when I click through to the search result I'm redirected to Sutton in Arkansas, US.

Automatic GPS updates
Automatic location tracking via mologogo.com would be great for those wanting continuous tracking. It can be initiated by sms for non-continuous. -

Giving titles to addresses Last reply on July 08, 2008 07:33.
Is there a way? Or can there be a way to publicly mark an address as someone's house or my house? So someone knows I'm at my house or elsewhere instead of just a random address? -

Attach Privacy Level to Location Last reply on July 08, 2008 00:46.
Browsing through some of the privacy ideas here, it seems like a great number of them could be solved simply by attaching a privacy level to individual locations. For instance, when signaling BrightKite that I'm at home, I would have Private mode attached to Home, so before it would notify anything at all to anyone it would set me to private than send the check it that I'm at home (but private). Likewise I could attach public to the Cafe, so when I get to the Cafe from home and checkin at the Cafe it would set everything to public and announce that I'm at the cafe.
This would even solve some of the issues with SMS checkins. I would no longer have to set Public or Private before checking in at a location, I would simply /know/ that as soon as I checked in where I was the appropriate level of privacy would be applied.

How can I add a location/address/business that BrightKite cannot find? Last reply on July 07, 2008 18:15.
For example, i was at a cafe and when i typed in the address it said it could not be found. I would like to see functionality that allows users to add businesses based on address.
Additionally, I entered in an address to check in to and BK gave me the wrong business name. How can I correct this? Also, where are you pulling your address data from?
Thanks! -

Request Name Correction Last reply on July 07, 2008 17:46.
To Whom It May Concern:
On your website: http://brightkite.com/places/eb7762f2..., it shows the "San Gabriel Civic Auditorium". However, this theater has changed its name to "San Gabriel Mision Playhouse". I would like to request that you make this important change as soon as possible. Thank you so much for your time regarding this matter. -
