Let's have a Blackberry application! Why should iPhone users have all the fun? It would be great to have even just a little of the awesome functionality of the BrightKite website on my Blackberry.
It would be very handy if there were a slider setting under Notifications that would allow me to automatically disable SMS notifications when outside of my home country (of course, you'd need to allow me to set a home country/home city/home airport first...). This would help me keep my roaming fees down -- and would be a nice, fairly straight-forward feature to offer.
I have been using my BlackBerry to checkin via emails for awhile with no problems, but all of a sudden it stopped working. Now when I try to checkin using either a placemark or a new address, I get a reply saying Sorry, but we didn't understand you. To post a note here, reply with SAY YOURNOTE'.
Honestly, is there some sort of terms-of-service clause that is or can/should be violated by posting ridiculous nonsense minutiae that has little to nothing to do with checking in anywhere? I swear I can't check in at home any more because I am inundated by meaningless posts by one 'neighbor' in particular. I tried blocking him, but proximity overrules. I hate it. Help.
As a workaround to Verizon not supporting Brightkite via SMS, I was using text-to-email sent to the unique email assigned me by Brightkite. Verizon's system malfunctioned and bombed Brightkite with dozens of repeat emails from a single text. My text-to-email ability was blocked by Brightkite. Now Verizon text-to-email seems to be working again. Please unblock me.
Currently can't check in from the web. Tried through the search bar and my place marks list. In both cases the page reloads (or throbber throbs), but I'm still checked in at my last location.
I last checked in about 3 hours ago from SMS, but the time in Brightkite is off by 2 hours. (Says I checked in only 1 hour ago)
My updates don't appear on my public stream despite having my Everyone Else privacy settings set to "city". The last item on my public list is from last evening, but I've checked in twice (failed check in not included) and posted at least 4 notes since then.
My notes and pictures don't cross post to Twitter despite having Twitter sharing enabled and the appropriate privacy settings.
I would love to keep using this application (would in fact use it as a proxy for Twitter) but it seems like it's still too broken to be reliably usable, even for a beta.
integrate with Fire eagle. they do a better job of resolution of location. its nice to reveal my neigborhood instead of the all or nothing choice i have with brightkite now.
I am dying for an invite to Brightkite. Have been waiting for a fiend for months and put in an invite on the Brightkite.com website. Can anyone help me out? Uforik@tmail.com
Times shown on posts are really odd this morning. I made a post about 5 minutes ago which says I posted it at 20.52 on Oct 3rd (really 8.52 Oct 4th) - then a comment I made on it (to the effect that the time was wrong) shows as being made "about 5 hours ago". Hovering over the time on my post, I see it shows "MDT" - what's that, Mountain Daylight Time? - although it still wouldn't be right even then. My settings are UTC. I see that another person who is in my area also has her posts showing as MDT, but posts she made several hours ago are higher than mine in my friendstream.
