I am dying for an invite to Brightkite. Have been waiting for a fiend for months and put in an invite on the Brightkite.com website. Can anyone help me out? Uforik@tmail.com
I tried to check-in via mobile yesterday afternoon. I did not receive a text reply until an hour later. Oddly, I received 6 text replies at once. After disregarding, I received another 14 text replies. A few times, it checked me into random locations. I have since received 8 more text replies. Please advise.
How it is possible to receive an invite in Brightkite? Very much it would be desirable to test and look that inside! =( Somebody, help me plz 7enoff@gmail.com
i'm not receiving mobile updates to my friends locations. I'll receive stuff that they say but it won't tell me when they check into a new location. It's been this way for about 24 hours.
We recently added my company to Google local in the hopes that it would then be available to check in with the "Name (Address)" format in Brightkite.
Am I wrong in assuming this is where that data comes from? How can I make this happen? I'd like to have the place name in there, rather than just the address.
I want to be able to update everything in one text. Something like this: Queen Anne, Seattle, WA ! Getting ready to go to a concert at Key Arena! Yay! (whereas, after you update your location, you can post an update after the !)
So some guy from about 20 miles south of here recently visited a location my area (4000 meters). He went home, and is still posting update 'messages'. I get every one. He's announcing that he's going to some location, but he never updates from that location. This is really annoying, and I've tried to contact him to say, hey, update your location, but he seems to be ignoring me. That's great fun, to see a ton of messages from this jerk who thinks brightkite is like twitter in that you OCCASIONALLY tell it where you are and just update no matter what.
There needs to be a "This guy is doin' it wrong" button, so you can send him a message saying "Hey, you're posting messages to a location you are not at and have not been at for a week, fix your location". Even if he just fixed cities (he lives 2 cities away) that would be good enough.
Also, it would be neat if some locations could have a time limit. You can't stay at a movie theater overnight, for example, and you would be auto checked out if you were still listed as being there for 24 hours. This allows it to cover people who work at a theater, as well as people who are just seeing a movie.
One solution is ignoring everyone around me just so I don't get updates from this one guy who doesn't know how to use BrightKite. Another is to block him, which is going to happen very soon. But I don't think he's going to be the first or the last to not really understand the idea of posting messages to a location.
Regularly the most interesting aspect of BrightKite can be found in it's comments, not it's posts. Any chance FriendFeed could import over the comments from these threads and post them in the relevant FF thread as comments.
If those posters don't have a FriendFeed account, their comments could be posted as a guest account with the option for that person to 'reclaim' their comments much like Disqus and Intense Debate.
While I understand this is mostly up to FriendFeed to implement, could this possibly be chased up by BK?
It might be nice to be able to change the location of a post. I posted a picture then had to delete the post because I'd forgotten to change locations before sending the email.
What is up with that? I thought it would be there? Loopt is there, so is Twittelator and Whrrl... give us an update on when we can see the app at the App store...
There are too many page loads for the iphone/ipod touch brightkite interface, i would like to be able to check in on the main page. EDGE reloads are very tedious.
I went to add a friend but was not logged in. I clicked the add a friend link and was taken to the log in screen. I entered my credentials and got this output:
I keep searching for, and finding, Quadrant House in Sutton, Surrey, UK. But when I click through to the search result I'm redirected to Sutton in Arkansas, US.
For example, i was at a cafe and when i typed in the address it said it could not be found. I would like to see functionality that allows users to add businesses based on address.
Additionally, I entered in an address to check in to and BK gave me the wrong business name. How can I correct this? Also, where are you pulling your address data from?
