Double posts in friend stream Last reply on July 02, 2008 23:39.
The following three posts are showing up twice in my friend stream:
http://brightkite.com/objects/a8a0210...
http://brightkite.com/objects/e9a3421...
http://brightkite.com/objects/fc81934...
Not really a huge problem, just kind of annoying. Funny thing is that all the comments for these posts are in sync. -

Where are the RSS feeds? Last reply on June 27, 2008 16:28.
If I'm not mistaken, there are none. I would love to have a feed for comments on my stuff + @'s + maybe even some of my close friends activity.
Did I miss something? -

link discover friends to search for people Last reply on May 08, 2008 17:30.
I just signed up, took me a second to figure out how to search for usernames I knew, since that info is not linked in the "Find people you know" panel. Even just some text telling me to look up and see it would help. Furthermore, let's add an import address book function :)

Blocking not working? Last reply on June 17, 2008 05:56.
I seem to be unable to block users. I've blocked two friends as a test, but the checkins and posts for both show up in my friendfeed and location feeds, regardless. How is blocking supposed to supercede other settings? Or, rather than blocking, how about a mute feature for people?

Make Twitter friend requests easier Last reply on April 28, 2008 17:01.
Twitter importing of friends takes a very long time. My suggestion as a UI professional, and frustrated user is to allow multiple friend requests at once. This could be done as a series of checkboxes next to each user.

Why can't I search for nearby users? Last reply on June 10, 2008 18:25.
It would make sense to be able to search for people who are often nearby where I am - i.e. other users in my hometown/city (in my case, Anchorage, Alaska).
People obviously shouldn't show up if they're marked as private, but for those who don't mind, like myself, it'd be nice to be able to hook up through brightkite.com (-:

Don't refresh page when accepting friend requests Last reply on June 09, 2008 22:52.
I might be an odd case, but when you have LOTS of friend requests, it's really annoying that the WHOLE page refreshes when you add a friend! It takes you out of flow, and it also wastes time... could you do the adding friend thing via AJAX? -

Bright Kite Groups Last reply on June 02, 2008 16:32.
I think having groups/communities would be a great way to organize Bright Kite. I like the site, but a lot of my friends are people from forums that I don't recognize their new user names. So maybe a way where people can join a group and see other members to separate from real life friends. Possibly even maybe like categories that we can categorize users. I also think having it display names like twitter or other sites would be a nice addition. Also, does the happening around me function actually work, cause it doesn't seem to show people in BK universe that I know are near me. -

Why do I keep getting updates from non-friends? Last reply on April 30, 2008 23:23.
I keep getting updates from people who aren't my friend! I've got my notification setting set to "neighborhood" and "friends" yet I keep getting updates from non-friends when checked in at work. There are 40,000 people who work where I work, I don't want to hear from all of them... -

Privacy settings should allow limits on who sees your list of friends Last reply on May 27, 2008 20:42.
Privacy settings should allow a user to define who can see their friend's list. For instance, if a user sets his posts/checkins to only be viewable by friends and trusted friends, everyone can still see their list of friends. For true privacy, there needs to be an option on whether your friends list is viewable and by whom.
This is important to be truly private. I have a friend who has been stalked online at other various social network sites and the stalker was contacting her "friends" and causing issues. Locking down the friends list would help reduce the likelihood of this happening. -

Check-in for friends Last reply on May 31, 2008 18:03.
I find that I'm often hanging out at certain places with friends. Rather than all of us each checking in individually, it would kind of be cool to check-in with or for friends.
For example, if I go to a party and show up with a friend, I'd like to check in for both of us (why should my friend need to pull out her cell as well?). The SMS syntax could be:
@Ritual Roasters +username1 +username2
Now, whether you automatically push out that update to your friends' friends is open for discussion, but I imagine that if my friend has marked me as a friend on Brightkite, it could be an opt-in permission that I set: "Let my friends check in for me." "Only let my trusted friends check in for me."
And, when I visit my dashboard, I would see a message to confirm the check in permanently: "Your friend [username] checked you in to Ritual Roasters four hours ago. Were you there? Yes / No"

could you add a "Local" map view as default? Last reply on May 30, 2008 04:38.
I'd like to see an additional map: area view to zoom in on local friends without trying to "aim" google maps. I am lucky enough to have friends all over the US but most of the time I want to use the map to see those within 10 to 20 miles of my current location. Since the map now defaults to the entire country, I end up spending lots of time zooming in on the Chicago area. This takes enough time that I am beginning to avoid the map all together.
Thanks for considering it! -

BriteKite & Twitter are not speaking. Last reply on May 15, 2008 14:24.
I can not find my friends on Twitter. Apparently Brite Kite is having problems talking to Twitter. This has been an issue since last evening. When I try to find my twitter friends in britekite, I get the following message.."Sorry, but we had trouble contacting Twitter. Are they slow/down? Maybe try again later..."

Why aren't the initial friend-stream settings applied after adding a friend? Last reply on May 19, 2008 20:57.
Scenario:
I receive a friend request from someone I don't necessarily know or know that well, but I add them anyway, and I *uncheck* sending their updates to my friend-stream. Their updates show up anyway.
In order to remove them from my friend-stream I have to go to "Friends" and then edit the friendship settings again, then save them. This removes them from my friend stream while maintaining them as a friend. -

Asking nicely for more invites :) Last reply on May 19, 2008 02:24.
Would I be able to get a few more invites? I would like to invite the rest of my family, and a few of my friends.
Thanks in advance!
