New iPhone software has geotag information inserted into iPhone pictures. Why not read the location from this information, save us the trouble of having to say where we're at :) Take a look at my (BadPirate) first photo post in an editor that lets you see EXIF to see what I'm talking about.
From where i stand, after some extensive reading on your blog there is going to be a native version of Brightkite on the iPhone... My question how does this differ from the web app that is already out there? What kind of extra's is the native app going to give?
I am btw all for native apps in stead of web apps, so well done!
What is up with that? I thought it would be there? Loopt is there, so is Twittelator and Whrrl... give us an update on when we can see the app at the App store...
There are too many page loads for the iphone/ipod touch brightkite interface, i would like to be able to check in on the main page. EDGE reloads are very tedious.
I tried to login 5 times using my iPhone and each time it says "You must be logged into do that, please login" I've checked to make sure I'm entering my correct username and password - and I am - is anyone else having this problem?
I am from the Netherlands and I am soon going to buy an iPhone. I believe Brightkite is very promising since it is one of the best location based services outhere for Europeans, and unlike Loopt its free. My issue:
I believe this service to be only very successful if it can run completely automatically. With this i mean that the application runs in the background (in the iPhone's case with the push service apple provides) giving periodic checkins wherever i might be, continuously, every 5 or 10 minutes or so. I hope this is possible to implement, optional at-least. Please let me hear from one of the people inside the company if this option is or will be in the pipeline.
I've tried emailing photos a few times from my iPhone to the email address on my "Mobile" page, but nothing's appearing on the site. Any suggestions as to what's up? (I just sent a test shot from my laptop, and that went fine)
I have been trying to post photos to my brightkite account using my iphone for a while now, and NONE of the photos ever show up. I actually posted this question a while ago on this same messageboard but so far have gotten no answer. Any ideas why pics emailed from my iphone are not showing up? I have verified that I am using the right address, and I can post thru the brightkite interface and e-mailing photos from my computer.
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
I can't seem to search for businesses by name on the iPhone web app. No matter what I "search" for by where or what I can't bring up any businesses in my city like I can when I am using the website on my regular computer.
on the iphone web app, on the "around me" tab, sometimes there is an option to set the radius and other times that option does not appear. why? and how do I set it to always appear?
I was wondering if when you post a photo, if you have to check-in separately/before to get the photo to show your new location. From you email guide it seems like it should be possible by adding in the address in the body with the attached photo, but when I do that it doesn't update my location. It just says the photo was taken in the previous location i checked in at. I am using the iPhones email client if that makes a difference. It's kind of a pain to have to check in to the new location and then send a photo separate so it shows up in that new location. Hope that made sense. Thanks,
Jason
Most other iPhone web apps mask their url and I was wondering why brightkite does not?
I have found it very handy that if I already have a web app open in safari, say Google Mobile and you dont know about that tab open, if you were to push the Google Mobile home screen icon, instead of opening a new tab and going to Google Mobile, it will change to the Google Mobile tab. This is not the case with brightkite. If I already have brightkite open in safari and I click on the home screen icon, it opens a new tab. I have found myself with 4 brightkite tabs open once. Just a thought.
