Can I check-in and share a photo at the same time? When I email a photo, I would like to be able to check-in at the same time using either the subject or the body of the email as the placemark.
will we be able to edit our past posts in the future? with the number of methods to check in and post, sometimes conflicts occur, errors are made, and unintended posts happen.
I tried to check-in via mobile yesterday afternoon. I did not receive a text reply until an hour later. Oddly, I received 6 text replies at once. After disregarding, I received another 14 text replies. A few times, it checked me into random locations. I have since received 8 more text replies. Please advise.
For some reason, when i update to a placemark, twitter doesn't update my location (as a tweet, not as the location in profile). But notes and photos work fine. Ideas?
For the last two or three days, checking in at a place then immediately submitting a photo shows a long delay between the two events. I have done both with in seconds of each other and the check-in shows up quickly. The photo e-mailed immediately afterward shows in my timeline up to an hour after the check-in. Sometimes the photo of the place I originally checked in to shows up after I check in to a new location causing a non-linear timeline. Included photo had an actual delay between check-in and emailed photo of about 30 minutes. Displayed delay is 2:30. So, 2 hours after emailed photo is appeared in timeline. This is just this afternoons example.
I want to be able to update everything in one text. Something like this: Queen Anne, Seattle, WA ! Getting ready to go to a concert at Key Arena! Yay! (whereas, after you update your location, you can post an update after the !)
Trying to register my mobile isn't working (not getting confirmation), and I've used this phone with BK before. I don't think it's a reception problem since I've received other text messages this morning at the same location.
So I inputed my mobile / cell phone number, but never received my confirmation number. Is this because it's Canada and not the U.S.? Or is there something else going on? (My phone is a Blackberry Pearl 8130, FYI).
would love it if there was a mobile version of the site. also it'd be good if there was an API and a desktop client. maybe compatibility with other services like twitter, jaiku, dopplr... :)
This morning I tried to email a photo to Brightkite, and I ended up getting an email back saying "Sorry, but we could not post your photo." Okay, no prob, something probably bonked, it happens. I try it again: "Sorry, but we could not post your photo."
I didn't figure it out until I got in front of a computer and tried posting the photo through the website. Turns out my wordy caption was 70 or so characters over the limit. :D Okay then! But when I was out and about, the email I got could've said something like, "Sorry, but we could not post your photo, because you do go on. There's a character limit on the caption of (x) characters. If you can edit your caption down, try it again."
Would it be possible to send more descriptive error emails?
Hello, I live in Israel and Brightkite does not appear to support Israel completely. I attempt to write the address i'm in, but Brightkite keeps bringing me back to the city page instead. My idea is that you support all addresses, regardless of wether they "exist" or not, because there are no map sites who can provide authentication. (Israeli ones can, but they don't have an API and are complex)
Here's something I'd appreciate. I dislike checking in from my iPhone (compared to my desktop browser), and I usually know where I'm going before I leave the house. It'd be nice to be able to check in as 'en route' to a location, and then send a text from my iPhone to 'complete' the ckeck-in - thus removing the 'en route' check-in from the stream and adding a traditional check-in to replace it. En route check-ins should never show up in the stream unless they're the latest item (spam!), but it'd be a good way to hook up with people - if you know somebody is en route to, say, Denny's, you could text 'em and say "Hey, mind if I come with?". Also, it'd save me having to try to type any complicated names on the iPhone (web interface *or* SMS), and just allow me to send one character to 'complete' the en route check-in (I was thinking an `@` without arguments).
There's gotta be a better way to check in on your location on your mobile phone. I'm just using brightkite since yesterday. Today I went out on a local bike path and took a picture that I wanted to post. I could not search for this because it wasn't an address. I searched for the name of the trail, but that didn't work.
My thought is that there should either be some integration between brightkite and an internal gps receiver if available, or at least some way to access latlong coordinates through a more dynamic mapping tool, either via mobile browser or via the mobile version of Google maps. Optimally, I'd like to just bring up a map, zoom into my exact location, hit my screen to put a pin down, then have options to check in, placemark, post photo, etc. The current interface seems awfully clunky unless you are only using it to locate yourself at specific street addresses.
I think it would be useful to include a privacy setting selector (drop down box or radio button) on the following pages of the mobile site: check-in and note posting. Editing the privacy setting before a post is somewhat of a hassle as is. It requires browsing to the "Edit privacy" link, then changing your settings, then submitting them. This is a slow process on my frustratingly slow mobile web. It would be much easier to simply submit your preferred privacy setting along with the note or check in. As is, the place search/check in process already takes quite a few clicks and page loads. Anything to alleviate this would be helpful.
