For some reason, when i update to a placemark, twitter doesn't update my location (as a tweet, not as the location in profile). But notes and photos work fine. Ideas?
Hey, thought it would be cool to share Placemark names (like "home" or "work") instead of revealing the exact address, as a privacy feature. Right now displaying address doesn't really give an idea of what the location is.
I'm trying to check in my location at a hotel in Plymouth, UK - Future Inn, Plymouth. When I initially search for this it correctly finds the hotel (1, William Prance Road), however when I click on this to try and check in my location, it then changes the address to a Plymouth across the other side of the atlantic! Definitely seems like a bug.
Is or will it be possible to attach a photo to a placemark? This way when I Check In at that place it shows the actual place and not the place across the street (on google map's street view)
if i have set up a placemark for a business on the web, it saves as the address, not the name of the business. is there any way to associate the name of the company with the address?
e.g., http://brightkite.com/objects/734485e... is my gym, but the only way i can figure out how to get a business name to show up is if i do something like "?bally" via sms for a business lookup. not so convenient when all i want to say is @gym, you know?
other than that, great job--can't wait for some sort of phone gps integration ;)
I tried renaming my 'work' placemark but i could edit it. Had to create a new one altogether. Is this right or not obvious to me where i can edit. Thanks.
Would be interesting to see per-Placemark privacy settings. For example, I only want my trusted friends to see my work and home addresses but anything else should be public.
public placemarks are a huge need - i understand they can't be assigned by just anyone, but maybe you can assign "city ambassadors" or something, local people that have an "in" and know which areas around town need to be labeled by their appropriate nicknames. listing a certain gps, address, zip code may not mean anything when everyone refers to that part of town by a certain pseudonym.
I would like to be able to create placemarks via the placemarks screen in my profile. Not just for places I have been, but places I may go. On my new account, I would like to setup my home, work locations, club, marina, etc. ahead of time so I can reference them when I am out.
Adding a placemark with a non-ASCII character results in hung page. I tried to add a placemark name as inf?z and it hung the page. I then reloaded the page and correctly added the placemart as infuz. That is the u-with-macron character, but I suspect it'll happen with any non-ASCII character.
Is there a way to placemark an address with an apartment letter appended to the end?
My address is 58A, but the address thingy returns 58, which isn't my apartment. If a friend is using bkite to find where I live, I'd really rather them ring my bell than my landlord's. ;)
