Handling Twitter crosspost-created 404s Last reply on July 05, 2008 21:03.
using the @ symbol with usernames has the same behavior in BK and Twitter. Not everyone is using both applications, though.
Perhaps an alternate USER 404 page could be utilized that says "sorry, that person is not yet on BK, perhaps they're on twitter?" with the word "twitter" going to twitter.com/username.
I'm not sure if any other web apps use the @username method -

Cross-posts with Twitter (7/01/08) Last reply on July 05, 2008 20:33.
My Brightkite posts don't seem to be cross-posting with Twitter this morning. Is that still down?

My BrightKite is set to private and my Twitter won't update. Last reply on July 02, 2008 18:21.
On the Account Settings page, on the Sharing tab, BrightKite should prevent me or warn me about entering my Twitter settings if I have my BrightKite set to Private.
Because otherwise I expect it to post what I have checked to my Twitter, and when it does not, I then have to go and search for why it's not working. I did find the answer here, in the Get Satisfaction website, but the way it currently functions seems counter-intuitive.
I hope this comes across as a critique and not as criticism, and I hope it helps to make your product better! (Yay Beta products!) -

Friends updates missing; cross-posting to Twitter broken for me (only it seems) Last reply on July 02, 2008 18:19.
My Brightkite posts are no longer getting cross-posted to Twitter, while I see that my Brightkite friends' posts are. Furthermore, those same friends are no longer appearing in my Brightkite stream on the website. I've turned on SMS to see if they come in there, but so far I've received nothing. -

Would be very cool if the note that I post on Brightkite were integrated and shared in Twitter! -

Twitter updates not respecting privacy Last reply on June 30, 2008 21:28.
My posts started getting cross-posted to Twitter this weekend even though they are marked as private. I don't know if this is a bug or changed behavior, but I much prefer being able to control which posts go to twitter. Thanks! -Will -

Notification Loop! Last reply on June 30, 2008 07:33.
I have 3 friends posts stuck in a notification loop! I am notified every 15 min of a new post but it is the same post. One post is from Saturday and one is even being submitted over and over to Twitter. I don't want to turn off my email notification, but I think I'm going to have to if this isn't resolved soon. -

photo posts (often) do not update twitter Last reply on June 26, 2008 16:44.
posts with pictures often do not update twitter. Sometimes I think it's because I forget to clear the body text in my email, and other times I think it's just a fluke, but I see it happen quite often where I'll post a picture while at a location and that doesn't end up as a tweet.
http://brightkite.com/objects/38606b5... is an example of one that posted to brightkite but never flittered it's way over to... um... twitter.

The Twitter privacy issue revisited: private/private. Last reply on June 23, 2008 07:45.
I would be really happy if there were support for private/private settings when it comes to the Brightkite/Twitter interaction. I'd like to be ultimately responsible for tweaking my privacy options; I want to be completely private on Brightkite, and I already am completely private on Twitter, so it would be nice if my posts showed up with these settings. Thanks, everyone!

Message truncation from SMS just like Twitter Last reply on June 20, 2008 20:13.
First of all, I love BKite. You guys are awesome!! Keep on. And here is one idea or suggestion. Can we allow to send an over maximum allowed text, I guess 140 but that's not irrelevant here, with truncating the message just like twitter? It's sad to get the message saying "you should try it again", especially the message a little bit longer than the maximum allowed text. -

Make Twitter friend requests easier Last reply on April 28, 2008 17:01.
Twitter importing of friends takes a very long time. My suggestion as a UI professional, and frustrated user is to allow multiple friend requests at once. This could be done as a series of checkboxes next to each user.

Check-in via Twitter Last reply on May 13, 2008 08:35.
I was going to suggest adding the ability to check-in via IM, but then I found this: http://tinyurl.com/6ys3wa
So maybe an alternative would be to send a direct message to a dedicated Twitter account (“d brightkite @home”). That way we could just use Twitter’s Jabber bot, which seems pretty stable.

posting to twitter shows up on brightkite? why?! Last reply on June 13, 2008 21:21.
i've setup brightkite so that pictures post to twitter when i post to brightkite but for some reason brightkite is picking up my tweets and its causing redundant data in my friendfeed.
what's up with that? was it something i did? how can i undo this? i want it to be a 1 way relationship with brightkite sending to twitter and not the other way around. -

Consolidate check in and notes Last reply on May 12, 2008 22:41.
I want to be able to check in AND post a note in the same move. Right now these TWO actions show up as TWO tweets in Twitter and that's annoying.

Bkite updates to Twitter via Web Last reply on June 12, 2008 16:26.
Noticed a small thing... when emailing photos and notes to Bkite, Twitter updating works. But when adding photos and notes via the web, Twitter does not update. -

Ping.fm integration Last reply on June 11, 2008 11:10.
Integrating ping.fm with brightkite would be great. Allows us to blast where we are and status update at the same time.
