Yesterday I received a Brightkite invite to the same e-mail address that I'm already registered with. I think it would be a good idea if the user who sent me the invite was told that I'm already a member.
Also, there were no names / usernames in this invite e-mail, so I've no idea who sent me it! I feel like I've lost a friend opportunity because:
1. The user wasn't told I'm already registered with the e-mail address they sent the invite to.
2. There were no names in the invite e-mail I received.
using the @ symbol with usernames has the same behavior in BK and Twitter. Not everyone is using both applications, though.
Perhaps an alternate USER 404 page could be utilized that says "sorry, that person is not yet on BK, perhaps they're on twitter?" with the word "twitter" going to twitter.com/username.
I'm not sure if any other web apps use the @username method
My brightkite and twitter usernames are different. When I visit the sharing page, Safari automatically fills in my brightkite username over my twitter name and if I'm not careful I end up saving the wrong information.
Also, the Twitter password is being passed as plaintext in the html page and not over a secure connection.
