Airport shortnames for easy checkin
Create global shortnames for all the main airports. Trying to check into PDX (Portland's main airport) this morning was a pain in the ass.
I would like to be able to just send:
@pdx

Inappropriate?This should be working already? Did it not recognize @pdx?
-
Inappropriate?Just wanted to clarify that I can send @pdx and it seems to put me near the right location... but the wording is really lame. I get a response of "Are you sure you want to check in to PDX, USA (US)"
It would be much nicer if it had the actual name used by the IATA codes:
PDX (KPDX) – Portland International Airport – Portland, Oregon, United States
You can find the codes here:

I’m excited

Inappropriate?We'll try to get that in there.

Inappropriate?I just tried with @san (for San Diego Airport) and got an error. Beyond that, the "nearby" results that were suggested were retarded! Sup wit dat?
I’m frustrated
-
Mmm...@san works fine for me...what error did you get? -
Inappropriate?I typed: "@SAN ! Headed to SFO." (trying to string up a shout -- is that not how it works?).
I got this error: "Sorry, but we couldn't find that place. Make sure to use an address, zip, city, etc. To check in at a business, use ? BUSINESSNAME. Reply with HELP for help."
I sent "?San".
I got: "Pick one: 1) San Diego Airport Ride (...) 2) San Diego Airport Parking (...) 3) Ramada Ltd San Diego Airport (...) 4) more
I sent "4"
I got: "Pick one: 1) HIlton San Diego Airport/Harbor Island" (...) 2) more.
I gave up.

Inappropriate?Chris,
Unfortunately you cannot do "@SAN ! Headed to SFO" yet, but we're working on it.
The way to do it would have been:
@san
We have some big improvements coming in that area. -
Hrm, well I *did* do that after I tried the shoutout and it failed. Oh well -- glad you're working on it! -
You said that you did ?san, not @san...airport codes are one of the weird exceptions to the way our search works, because the geocoder takes care of them, not the local search.
