Around Me not showing same information as Me & My Friends

I don't know if this is a bug or expected behavior. The issue is that "Around Me" is not showing all of my recent checkins although "Me & My Friends" are.

The checkins was a "public" checkin at the street level. It was of my trip to Subway for lunch. The checkin displays properly for "Me & My Friends" yet it does not show up "Around Me." My checkin back at the office is showing up under both places though. The difference with that is that I am checking in at the "city" level for my office so that I can stay "public" without giving out street details.

Can someone clue me in if this is a bug or a feature of some type.
