Brightkite and Facebook: not getting along!
I have Brightkite set up to post to my Facebook account, and my updates do post to the Live Feed section of my friends' accounts. However, they do not post to the News Feed section (and yes, I've specified news feed rather than status in my settings). My girlfriend has the same settings, and I have the same problem when trying to view her updates. Any suggestions?

Inappropriate?Yes, I think what the issue may be is the fact that facebook does it's own calculation to determine if something will end up on your friend's newsfeeds. You can adjust these settings to say that you want to see more of someone's details in your own feed, and this seems to help with seeing future brightkite updates from that person.
So, the problem is just that most of the brightkite newsfeeds are being filtered out automatically by facebook, unless that person has bumped up my priority in their feed. Since status updates and photo posts are more likely to make it through the filter, setting BK to post in that way lets the updates show more reliably than the "news feed" option.
