Brightkite could automatically put me in "Private" mode for sensitive locations
So, for instance, I can check in at home and tell Brightkite "this is my home", and do the same at work, then if I check in at either of those places in the future (or any others I choose to set as "sensitive"), Brightkite will automatically make those checkins private instead of public...

You can achieve the desired behavior by going to a Brightkite place page (e.g. http://brightkite.com/places/356a192b...), and then clicking "Privacy at this place" just under the checkin button.
There, you can configure a radius around the place where you always want to default to a certain privacy setting.
