Can I comment on peoples pictures and posts?
Without suggesting that ya'll ought to go whole hog in that direction, I do think it is key to allow commenting/conversing to some extent.
In a general sense, user-to-user messaging is clunky on the site. Enabling easy commenting and replying to posts and photos would go a long way towards mitigating this issue.
The more people who like this idea, the more it gets noticed.
The company implemented this idea.
The best point from everyone

I think the whole brightkite idea revolves around creating virtual communities around physical spaces...
i think it's hard to have a community without being able to ask "was that restaurant good? i've really wanted to check it out!", or being able to say "I used to work here! Have you noticed that you can see times square if you stand at the end of the west balcony??"

Inappropriate?Hi Texburgher. We are planning on "horizontal" user-to-user communication in the site. Additionally expect to see a way to comment on photos, links etc. We just have not gotten to it yet.

Looking forward to it. Thanks for reply. :) -
Inappropriate?Cool. I'll look forward to that. "Conversation" is definitely a big part of what makes messaging platforms fun.

Inappropriate?Though this would be a wonderful and highly beneficial use of Brightkite, I don't think this was the whole premise behind it.
I know I'm talking semantics here, but Brightkite seems to revolve more around the PEOPLE and the places they visit rather than the places themselves. It's the reason why you have a direct FRIENDSTREAM that gets updated with where your friends check-in and what they do at those locations.
At this time you don't have a direct Placestream. You have to go to each location and see what's happening there. I think your idea is great and as Brady said, should be implemented soon.
At this time, you can still post a note at locations without actually checking in to the them. It's not exactly the functionality that everyone's looking for, but it satisfies the ability to comment on a location. -
Inappropriate? You can now comment on posts. There is more to come in the the way of commenting but the basics are now available :)

Awesome! You guys rock! -
Inappropriate? Thanks Brady, that's a great addition. I do have a couple questions about the future plans for this feature.
The iPhone/Touch client will get this feature added in the future, correct? Right now I can't make or see replies with it.
Are there plans to be able to designate a reply specifically for only the original poster's eyes as well as the public reply feature?
Will replies show up in the location feeds and friend feeds? Right now I can only see a reply I've made to someone by going to their original post.
Thanks again for the hard work guys!
Joe
I’m excited

Inappropriate? There is now a comment tab where you can see all the comments people have left for your posts/checkins. :)

Inappropriate?Looks nice. I've been leaving comments for people, but they seemed to just sit there.
Hooray for making them more prominent- and I'd love to see that trend continue, e.g. by making them drop down from the original post without loading a new page.
Keep up the good work, guys. It's fun to see the progress.
