Clickable URLs in Posts on iPhone app
On the iPhone app, would it be possible to make the short URLs that people put in their comments clickable? (ie the ping.fm and hellotxt ones). Having to memorize or write them down just to go check out the referred web page is a pain and goes against the overall concept of being mobile really. Thanks!

Inappropriate?Hi Beil, that's actually on our to do list for the app. We don't have an ETA yet, but you should see that option show up in one of the upcoming updates.
-
Inappropriate?Where are things at with this (really quite basic) feature?
I’m still waiting for this basic functionality
-
Inappropriate?Beil, we definitely understand your frustration. As you'd imagine we're all avid users of the iPhone app and the absence of this feature (among other things) has bothered us as well.
We are currently looking to hire a mobile developer and once we have someone in house we will start rolling out the updates.
I know "soon" is a horribly vague word, but you should see some new developments with this very soon.
I’m confident

Oh, I had no idea that you folks didn't have a mobile developer in-house, given your focus on mobility (or at least presences-at-locations). I hope your search goes well and you find a good one. -
Inappropriate? On a similar note, can you make @mentions also clickable? (just another regex to run over the comment string).
I’m indifferent
-
Yes, the mentions will be clickable along with the other links. -
Inappropriate?Just checking in again on this one, as more and more people are posting with URLs in the message ... that I would have to memorize to access. Are clickable links coming in the next version?
-
Yes, they are in the next release, which is pending Apple's approval. -
Inappropriate?Too long of a wait for such a basic feature. I uninstalled Brightkite from my iPod Touch 2nd Gen 2-3 months ago because of repeated false promises about adding this feature. When version 1.1.3 (iPhone OS 3.0 Tested) was released I figured it had to have this feature by now and jumped at the chance to install it on my NEW iPhone 3Gs. Yet another big let down, as this newest version also lacked clickable links.
Offering the Brightkite app but not having a "mobile developer" sounds kind of odd considering all of the cool things listed on the Applications & Tools page in addition to now offering Brightkite on other mobile platforms. So who wrote all of that cool stuff anyway? If you follow through and add clickable links across the entire Brightkite app for the iPhone I'll gladly return to the world of Brightkite. If not....oh well!
I’m frustrated
