Friends aren't notified about posts when I'm checked in somewhere else
Hi,
My friends do not receive notification texts or emails if I post from a location where I am not checked in.
For example:
(i) I start off, checked in in London. I make a post, and friends receive notifications.
(ii) I travel to Manchester, and post a note from Manchester, without checking in. The post appears on my timeline on the website, but no notifications are received.
(iii) I arrive in Edinburgh, check in there and send a post. My friends receive notifications.
I don't think this is meant to happen. I did an extra test this evening, so I'm pretty sure this is a problem, instead of just a couple of texts disappearing randomly.
Keep up the good work. Brightkite is brilliant!

Inappropriate?Hi Alasdair, we call these posts "about posts" since you are posting to a location without being checked in there. Those intentionally do not send out notifications or share to Twitter (if you have that set up) and the reason for this is that these types of posts are not designed to be about what you're *currently* doing, which is what Brightkite is all about. We realize that differentiating between the two types of posts can be confusing, especially since people often stumble across this feature. We will work on clarifying this on the website.
