From iPhone app post only one check-in for check-in & post note/photo, not 2 check-ins.
In the iPhone app, I'd like to check-in with a note or photo, and have just one check-in posted to Brightkite. Currently, the check-in and post note/photo creates a check-in and then a second check-in with the note/photo. This seems redundant. It may not annoy Brightkite users, but my check-ins are posted to twitter and I have received complaints from tweeters.

Inappropriate?Hi Randall, sorry for the confusion. You're not seeing two checkins, it's just the one checkin and then your note (which has location info attached to it). Even though the actions are combined in the app, they are still separate events on Brightkite. We have no plans to change this. You can disable your checkins from sharing to Twitter and only share your notes and photos. Since both of those link back to your Brightkite post and show your location there, you still have the benefit of the location data without annoying your followers with check in tweets. Hope that helps.

Inappropriate?Lesley's change works for Twitter but not for FriendFeed. On FF my posts are generated from every action on Brightkite. This means that either I have to visit FF and manually delete the first post, without the note, or hope that those following me are not being spammed with redundant information. I don't understand why Brightkite users can't choose what information is posted in the first action.

Since Twitter integration is on our end, you can control what you send there. But with Friendfeed the integration is on their end, so we can't control what gets sent, the options or filters would have to be from FF. We are working on some solutions for when you check in and post a note/photo from the iPhone app that will help with the confusion around what people see as double posts. We don't have an ETA on that yet, though. -
