Get my exact location from FireEagle
OK so now there are lots of (well some) applications for each of the different phone platforms out there. Nokia, WMobile, iPhone and they all check in with FireEagle. Brightkite has FireEagle integration for uploading. The next logical step would be to get the locations from FE and if the location has changed by more than oh - say a quarter or 1/8 mile, update the Bk location. This will get you cross platform gps deployment instantly!
I would love to have Mologogo updating FireEagle which updates Brightkite.
UPDATE: OK I see that 12 days you already discussed this with someone: http://getsatisfaction.com/brightkite...
I'll just say I applaud the idea and offer my services as an alpha tester of that version!

Inappropriate?+1, was looking to mashup FindMe and BrightKite... both can *write* to FireEagle, but not *read*
I’m hopefuly
-
Inappropriate? They've got some plans for it and it is in the works: http://twitter.com/brightkite/statuse... Enough of us have to mention the need for it. I say let those Iphone people wait, Apple lovers are used to being behind the development curve! ;)
-
Inappropriate?+1 for this
-
Inappropriate?+1: I'm already updating my location automatically to fireeagle with my iphone. why not be able to leverage that?
I’m optimistic!
-
Inappropriate?+1 already a lot out there updating fire eagle locations. Would be great if bright kite could consume those updates.
I’m excited

Inappropriate? We don't currently support pulling from FE because there is no scalable way to consume FE information...we'd have to poll the FE status for every FE user every few minutes...that's fine for a few people, but not for thousands of users.
We've working with the FE team to address this (probably through an XMPP-based push service). -
How's the progress on solving this problem in the last 5 months? (Fire Eagle -> Brightkite) -
Unfortunately we don't have any updates in this area. We are waiting to hear from FE on some push solutions they have been working on. -
Inappropriate?I created a PHP program that uses Mologogo to update BK which update FE.
It's really simple and only requires a web server with PHP (obviously) & Curl. It uses the Mologogo AltURL update feature and works splendidly. It queries BK for the reverse Geocode.
I’m confident.
-
Inappropriate? You can also update fireeagle with your laptop using the Fire Eagle Auto Updater. It is currently in Beta but it works. :)

Inappropriate?I would LOVE for Brightkite to get my location from Fire Eagle! (FE -> BK, not the other way). Anything we can do proactively? I would hate to think Brightkite is just waiting for FE to solve this problem. I know you guys are more creative than that!
I’m amused
-
Inappropriate?I'm still waiting for two-way integration between Brightkite and Fire Eagle. Two way integration between Brightkite and Google Latitude would be awesome as well. I want updates to one service to update all three of them!
I’m hopeful
-
Inappropriate? How's the Fire eagle to Brightkite integration going?
-
Pulling from FE coincides with some other changes that we are working on, but those have taken longer than expected and are what's causing the delay with implementing this. We have some really cool stuff in store for Brightkite that should start rolling out soon. :) -
So, Lesley, I'm still waiting for Brightkite/Fireeagle two-way integration. Is that going to happen? -
It is, but we're still not finished with the other stuff we're working on that needs to be in place before two-way integration is possible. It's a sizable undertaking, so it's taking some time to get it right. Thank you for checking in on us though. :) -
Thanks for keeping on it! :)
