GPS to update Brightkite?
How can I automatically update my Brightkite location using my GPS phone? I have my GPS updating Fire Eagle already, but Brightkite won't take the info.

Inappropriate?Cadill, we have plans to support as many phones as possible, but currently the only GPS phones we support are the iPhone and Android phones. We're also looking into email updates from VZ Navigator to see if those can be used for checkins. What kind of phone are you using?

Inappropriate?Hi! Thanks for responding. I'm using a Windows Mobile 6 phone (HTC Tilt) with Mologogo as the GPS updater. It's capable of updating Fire Eagle no problem. All you have to do is get Brightkite to read the location from Fire Eagle. That would be great, since that is what Fire Eagle is for!1 Comment

We are working with the FE team on the best solutions for consuming location data from them. It's kind of tricky, but we are working on it. :) -

We have plans for one, yes. Currently we're working on the Android app and once that is finished we'll move on to the other apps that users have been requesting. As a startup we have limited resources, so we have to tackle these things one at a time. :)

Inappropriate?If you cant get the exact location from Fire Eagle live, I'd be cool with just the approximate location once per hour or something. Better to do a little than nothing at all. Tell your developers :) :) :)

the problem is -- within hour GPS coordinates are valid _only_ if there were other means to confirm they didn't change (otherwise they did by default).

Inappropriate?I'm still waiting for two-way integration between Brightkite and Fire Eagle. Two way integration between Brightkite and Google Latitude would be awesome as well. I want updates to one service to update all three of them!

Inappropriate?If fire eagle push option is too hard to get, maybe you could integrate fire eagle to "guess location" feature? So each user would only make one query to FE?

It's still in the works. It is related to this bigger project we are working on, which needs to happen before we can start pulling from FE.
